If I was Josh Paul, I tag Prysinski whether the ball hit the ground or not. It was close enough to not take the risk.

Definitely-- not a good time to bluff "as if"- no way to know how the ump would see it

Sox / Angels - squeaker, but the ball did hit the ground

Hmmmm...that's not what Pam told me today!!

She said something about there not being any dust on the ground when the ball supposedly "hit" the ground. Actually, I didn't see the game. I'm just quoting a co-worker!

Did you see dirt fly up when the ball hit the ground?

I didn't.

I saw the catcher catch it. I do not believe it hit the ground and I am a Sox fan. Josh Paul still should have tagged him to be sure.

Flying dirt - its presence confirms, but its absence doesn't disprove hitting the ground

I could swear I saw a bounce - for the sox but way nore distant than SD

Usually a reflex with catchers...

Note to self-- watch pregame tonight to see replays...

OK. My definitive HO is that I dunno.
From the front, to me, it clearly bounced on the webbing of the glove. To me, from the side, it clearly bounced in front of the glove. (The announcers went with webbing.)

The bottom line is that the ump didn't call him out, so SD's right-- ya gotta tag.

If the ball hits the dirt going that fast, the dirt WILL be seen!

Paul should indeed have tagged the runner just to be safe, but he had no reason to bluff; he could have easily tagged the runner. He just assumed the play was over.

And Eddings shouldn't call a batter out until he's out.

White Sox and Cards=NIGHTMARE!!! I WILL NOT WATCH! I'm from Chicago and a PROUD CUBS FAN!
Cubs? What is that? oh, maybe some minor league team? Honestly I've never heard of any cubs baseball team. I did notice that there is a big gathering of upper class pretend-a-fans that get together to bask in the sun on the North side of the city. I always thought they were exchanging manicurists' phone numbers or something.

Just kidding Chasbo. To those who don't know, Sox fans do not like The Chubs. Chub fans don't like the Sox until they start winning and then they all jump on the "I've been a Sox fan since..." bandwagon.

Sorry Chasbo.

Go Sox!

Atlanta lost

Well, if the Cards make it they will no doubt stick with tradition and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

No need to aplogize Dragon. No offense taken. You are right on all counts but I must tell you that I am a South Sider. Born and raised around Midway Airport. Lived around Wrigley in the 80's but now I'm back South, way South Subs. I am not one of those fly by night fans. If you are a Cubs fan you don't like the Sox but I'd lose every interleague game to the Sox if the Cubbies could down the Cardinals and Astros. If you are a Bears fan you don't like The Pack. It's simple. I know Baseball. The Sox have the golden touch this year and it looks like their pitching is good enough.
