What is this crock- CHECK YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS- IMPORTANT Please Read.

I purchased the Wincustomize option when I originally purchased Object Desktop and Object Dock, it said that for $19.95 you get the enhanced browser and a two year subscription to WinCustomize, but in the Wincustomize browser it comes back as only being for one year. I contacted Stardock Sales and they told me that the initial purchase was only one year and the subsequent renewals are for two years but that is not what I paid for. The sales rep requested that I submit to her the documentaion that says it is for two years, "SO THAT I CAN CORRECT IT", I don't want the website corrected, I want what I paid for and that's two years not one. If I need to get a lawyer to get what I paid for, I will. And all that have purchased this, you may want to look in your expiration date in your Stardock Central Browser, under Tools, Register Products, and then under Register in the left hand screen select WinCustomize, it will then tell you in the right hand side of the screen when your subscription expires. Check it out and make sure you get what you paid for.

I had a look at the subscription item in the WC store and the text says:

"During the course of 1 year you'll receive SkinBrowser, premium skin suites, exclusive WinCustomize features, unlimited downloads, and more. Plus, you help support a site that has virtually no advertisements, no pop ups, and is very fast and clean. Our hope is that subscribers will be able to make WinCustomize self-sufficient."

Hello Calebrot,

At one time the WinCustomize subscription was for two years.  However we had change that almost a year ago.  But Renewals are for two years.  I'm not sure if mistakeningly misread the information or if you happened to stumble upon an old page where the information was not updated.

How long in between purchasing Object Desktop and purchasing a WC subscription? Like T-Man said, it changed. It looks like you didn't pay attention when you made the purchase. You were going on what you thought the deal was.

By the way.. In the SDC the same message was displayed when you selected "Skins and Themes", after the SDC was updated to the latest version (and you have'nt installed wcbrowser)..

Check out the file Stardock\SDCentral\WCBrowser\wcbrowser.htm,
and it says "For $19.95 you get a 2 year premium membership to WinCustomize.com which comes with these benefits"
so I can see why the misunderstading happened, if ordering via SDC anyway..
People are somewhat lazy, so the might not read up on the same product they have read the content
of within SDC.

This would be one thing that should've been removed/corrected when the change was done.

Interesting... This is true. If that is the case then I thing Stardock is obligated to provide 2 years for $19.95.

Just a note:
The file remains in the directory even after installing wcbrowser. I installed the latest SDC
version I could download when I got the OD (july) subscription (I guess 2.05), and updated that one to 2.10.343.95, just to clarify..

I would recommend this file to be fixed at first opportunity to remove this as a cause of confusion, or thinking the product/subscription is longer than it really is.. At least for the
first year..

Yes that is what it says now, but when I originally purchased it, it said two years. Actually it said two years up until yesterday when I contacted Stardock Sales and gave them the link, at which time they corrected it on the website.

It looks like you didn't pay attention when you made the purchase. You were going on what you thought the deal was.

Excuss me, but yes I was paying attention, and that is why I became furious, because I didn't get what I paid for, at the time. Stardock has corrected the website and also have given me what I paid for.

Problem solved, Stardock honored their words..

...And you'll find over the course of your two years, that they are a great company to deal with. I've bought quite a lot from them over the last few years and never had a major problem.

The one time I did have a small problem ...I had a solution within a reasonable time, and was helped by someone who actually did 'give a damn' as all the Stardock employees actually do.

Good you got it sorted.
