How to populate...

Where'd they go

I am a newbie, but motivated to make ObjectDock work. I have read some of the tutorial posts to learn how to decompose a zip file into the backgrounds, png files, and themes and get them into folders 'on the same level' in the ObjectDock program.

My success in doing this has been poor. So, let me ask the question a different way. How do you populate the list found in ObjectDock's settings? When I look at the menu item "Theme" and select "Load Theme" I see a list of ObjectDocks to load. The list consists of Default and LaST (Cobalt) which I am using and like, but the point would be to personalize this stuff, right?

I am using the free version, but would certainly upgrade to tabbed and flyout capabilities in Plus if I can figure it out.

Go to DesktopX Objects, type in the word "sex" in the search bar and see what you get.

47songs... What has that to do with ObjectDock?

To personalize OD, you change the background (right click dock > Dock Settings > Appearance), play around with other settings. You add shortcuts to programs you use often (right click dock > Add > Shortcut, or something else in the list). You change the icons to something you like (right click icon > Dock Entry Properties > Change image).

To populate the Themes list, you save themes as you modify them.

It doesn't. It has to do with populating.

lo 2001GTS

I too have briefely tried to find a good and to the point tutorial
on how to make my own graphics work with Object Dock + but never
found one =\

What most Stardock programs lack is the Help menu item most other
applications have where you can find a manual and maybe even
one or two well structured tutorials.

I hope Stardock will consider this in coming updates since
few people have the time to "figure out" how things work
by "tinkering around".

It would definitely help gaining more user provided content
to sites like this one.

Look under your ObjectDock folder tree

! WARNING: You will have to use a file browser !

You will see a folder called 'Backgrounds' - what do you see in there? Lo and behold a list of further folders named after the themes ! Whoa!

Consider, Grasshopper, the meaning of the folders.

Experiment to see what will happed if you download a background from WC and make a new folder named after that background whic is copied into the same place.

I foresee a population explosion

Thanks to all.

I guess every post with the word newbie also needs to contain the word sex. That way, the experienced folk will look. LilStarfish is on point and Wizop Koasati makes sense (as he does in many other posts around this place.)

Thanks Chris TH......reminds me of Karate Kid. "My answer is only important if you ask the right question."
