I had an appetizer at a Japanese restaurant that had seasoned cucumbers and onions in vinegar. I'm a very picky eater, but it tasted good. I saw little tiny garnishes on the food, but assumed it was more veggies and kept eating.

When I got about half way through, I looked into the bowl and noticed that the garnishes had eyes.

EYES!

I was eating some sort of minuscule snake-looking creatures whole, eyes and guts and all.

I almost got sick.

Blech.

EYES!

All I can say about this thread is....EWWWWW!

I can't eat anything that looks like it was alive at any point.  This, I think, came from my Dad storing his squirrel kills in the freezer when I was young.  As a young child, I found it disturbing to go into the freezer to retrieve a loaf of bread and see squirrel carcass.

I don't eat rabbit for much the same reason. My unckle used to ferret rabbits and my dad used to shoot them...and he'd stand in the kitchen and clean them. The stench was horrible, seeing the skinned and gutted rabbits was horrible, and having to go in the freezer to get anything was a nightmare for me as a kid. Those poor little bunny carcasses were in there.....yuk.

Turtles guts is the most disgusting thing i've ever had. It's got the texture of chewing gum and the taste of what i think rotten fish would taste like. Like i said 'ewww'. But i had to have some cuz it was the custom at the place i was visiting (Isle of Pines in New Caledonia).

I've had tounge, liver, kidney and chitlings. I've also had stuffed pig stomach

Me too, but they were (at least I use to think) normal foods.

Ever had Menudo? Pretty good too!

I too "used" to think they were "normal". Menudo? No thanks. We used to feed tripe to the dogs when dad ran an AKC kennel. Stuff used to stink like hell! Never got over that smell in my head. Although I haven't had stuffed pig stomach in quite some time. It's hard to find a butcher that knows what the hell they're doing.

I've eaten crocodile, witchety grubs (an aboriginal delicacy), emu, kangaroo and snake. The worst thing I ever tried was durian, a malaysian fruit that stinks worse than the baddest rotten-egg gas.
