Snails, Grasshoppers. Nothing too gross, and actually quite tasty.

Snails weren't the worst thing I ever ate, but they sure as heck weren't the tastiest either.

Oh, an English seaside treat is jellied eels. I've eating a fair bit of that, and cockles too. I've also eaten periwinkles (sea snails) and mussels (those are more common). Pigs brains (aka brawn in the UK) that my grandma made, tongue sandwiches (cow tongue, that is) and of course the offal (kidneys, liver, chitlings, tripe) that used to be a staple part of the British cuisine. Mmm...I think I'm going to make me some liver and onions for supper tonight! YUM!

Me too, but they were (at least I use to think) normal foods.

Ever had Menudo? Pretty good too!

It seems that the only thing that doesn't taste like chicken is, ummm, chicken.

Well I am from Louisiana, and I have eaten just about anything that moves here at some point. My former roomate was a really good cook, but I learned not to ask what was for dinner after he told me that the fine gumbo I was eating was made with Neutria Rat.

Haggis is a regular feature in our house. Burns' night in January, we have haggis tatties and neeps (Haggis, mashed potatoes and swede/turnips). Traditional Scottish fare.

horsemeat (in france, served in a stuffed broiled tomato)

Ours was rolled up into little balls, tied with bits of string and then braised in something or other. It wasn't a gamey tasting meat, but it sure was different....

The Stilton Cheese that Brenda-Mum brought over in January, it has grown eyes and moans when I cut a bit off.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I have a piece of stilton in the fridge (I can get it at the commissary here, along with some nice lancashire, edam, camenbert, brie and wensleydale). It's an acquired taste, that's for sure, and it smells pretty rank. My brother has a weakness for it, and my sister in law has made him buy a dorm fridge and put it out in the shed so he can keep his stilton out there. My daughter swears it smells like nasty feet....

Mushy-peas (how do they get them that color?)

I dunno, but I'm craving a nice bit of cod in batter, some chips and a side of mushy peas now...
