What should it be? Tell us..

We have some ideas on what the next skinning contest should be.  We want to make it only cover ONE program rather than multiple (gets too hard to manage).

Here are some thoughts:

1) WindowBlinds skinning contest.

2) DesktopX related contest - Best Themes, Best Widgets, Best Animated objects

3) Media Player contest

4) Icon contest

5) Wallpaper contest

6) Screenshot contest

7) Best Suite contest (Visual Style + Wallpaper + Icon Package + Desktop widgets/gadgets put together into a single theme)

8) Other.

Yes, I'd vote for a best widget contest, maybe to try to go a bit beyong the weather widgets, clocks, calendars and system meters.
ObjectDock - Access shortcuts and frequently used applications from an animated dock.

DesktopX THEME for certain. Maybe that will motivate me to blow the dust off my DX skills.

Why not a best Suite contest? That would include DesktopX plus give one a windowblinds skin and icons and a wall to use with the DX items. That would be by far my favorite option, although I do admit it would limit the contest to those sknners versed in skinning in all those various formats.

DX and Widgets are alright, but my main reason for having Object Desktop is Window Blinds. I have bunches of widgets, very few DX themes or objects, there a pain in the , well you know. I vote either WB or suites, not all that crazy about the latter either. I know all you guys are wanting to show of you're DX stuff, but Like I said, I've got at least 50 or more, and it's either a calender or a clock. Couple other things, but basicly clocks and calenders.

I would say windowblinds or a suite. On the downside though is that a great suite could possibly have multiple members creating each different portion of it. So of course the prizes should be kept in mind in that decision. If it was up to me I would say Windowblinds only.

I have to agree that while a DesktopX theme contest may sound good, there would be few entires for the most part compared to Windowsblinds or a Suite contest. Not everyone can code or knows a willing coder to help them create one. I for one, don't really know anyone to help create a great one, although I cna do graphics like no one's business.

You can see where my vote lies.

I say definately a full suite. It would be the best.

One thing though, have the contest run longer because of all the work that would be required.

WindowBlinds/Themes are my preference, it's the backbone of ObjectDesktop and WinCustomize!

I think a screenshot contest is a very cool idea...who care's who made the skins...a screenshot is about how good your desktop looks...would be cool to give all the people who take the time to show off all the artist's creations a chance in the spotlight too....

But I doubt that will actually happen...so, I'd have to go for Windowblinds...

Windowblinds/suites.

DesktopX is cool, but still not close to an every day use thing for me, unlike WB and IP.

I feel that a Windowblinds Suite is the best choice.We use it pretty much on a daily basis,and can use them in lots of different ways.Thanks for asking us.

I agree with the window blind suite because some of the ones that are older are incomplete and I really like to use them on a daily basis. So I think that would be the best choice.

Oh, and I go for a DX compitition. Best theme, best object/widget, best over all.

As for a suite, that must be some big prize for someone to work on a whole stuite of skins.

I wanted to do a contest with 20 dollars, but that really aint gonna happen I guess lol
So I would suspect a big prize for a suite of skins.

I vote for the much ignored Object Bar,possibly the most useful ingedient of the bunch. Desktop X is fun to play with but few are coders

Your past contest(s) have been great. Consider having different levels of competition in whatever category is decided upon. Competition levels such as: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Professional. Some of us "beginners" may feel a little intimidated by more experienced skinners and designers and opt not to participate if "beginners" are competing head-to-head with those more experienced.
