Problems with my Bootskins and Logon Sreens

Hi,

I'm Pebbles1964, brand new to Stardock, and I am running into a few problems for which I am looking for some help...

As for Bootskins: I have managed to download them, but have to change the extension, as directed to get them to show up in the Bootskins menu. However, once I choose which bootskin I want, once it loads upon computer startup, the picture will show, but then the computer shuts off and restarts, and I have to go to "Last good configuration to continue. It doesn't matter hich Bootscreen I use, the same thing happens. The error message I get is that there was a problem with Windows starting up. Any advice?

Next, I can get the logon screens to work and show, but regardless of which boxes I check or uncheck in the options menu, I can't get the randomization to work. Again, any advice?

For your first problem.

Bootskin will not work on all computers due to differences in their BIOS coding. Uninstall the version you have there now and try to download and install one of the alternative versions you can find here (scroll down)https://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/. If none of these versions work, then you are one of the unlucky ones and will not be able to run Bootskin.

Have you added logons to random logons list, you click randomize, select in available list, click arrow to move to random list.

As for the Bootskin downloads, 1.02 and 1.03 went one step beyond...they didn't shut off my computer, but didn't go to next screen either...just hung in limbo.

As for Logons, I did move the desired screens to the random box and checked the randomization option, but it changed nothing.

I played with it and could not get random even with all logons in randomize list, when check logonstudio.ini
it does change from 0 to 1 when select randomize. I never use randomize, maybe another XP SP2 problem.

I noticed 2 things on randomization. If I had too many selected to randomize, sometimes it got sulky. If, once I selected the ones to randomize, I clicked 'apply' it only used the last one selected, but if I clicked 'ok' instead it worked (but sometimes not until i used a cleanup program like ACE, CCleaner, or Object Sweeper).

Mine is randomizing now. v1.0.064.

Got it working,

but if I clicked 'ok' instead it worked

refers to one of logons in randomize list being selected.

Pebbles... in the future it would probably be best to keep all related questions in a single thread, instead of creating multiple threads. Less confusing for everyone.
