Enhanced Dialog Beta

Enhanced Dialog Beta

Object Desktop starts 2005 with a bang!

The first beta of Enhanced Dialogs is now available for Object Desktop users.  Enhanced File Dialogs seamlessly hook in to replace the standard Windows file dialogs. Now users can control which icons show up on the left, always have resizable dialogs, and they actually remember what view you last used (details, icons, etc.).

If you don't already have Object Desktop, definitely look at getting it.  It's a must-have utility suite for enhancing your Windows experience. www.objectdesktop.com.

Well I'm just thick. I see no evidence of anything - even with notepad. I'm not even sure where to look.

My bluetooth drivers refused to load until I uninstalled. Not sure why??

Read the history file accessable from SDC.

Requires Win2K or XP. Requires reboot after installing. Some apps, such as Microsoft Office apps are not modified by ED.

I know I'm late in getting back to this, but I do have Show Beta Releases checked and The is no sign of it in the listings under Object Desktop or anything else. What else might be the problem? Thanks Essencay

Looks good. But it doesn't work from what I can tell. I get the box to set it up like in the screen shots but nothing happens.

Doesn't work here either. I rebooted 3 times and still nothing.

Contact support They'll walk you through it. Be sure to document everything you can. It will help speed up the process of getting it taken care of. Do you have all the updates current on your system, if not...be sure and do so, and be sure to get current version of Java...I've had several issues there, and always fixed when I updated. Remember, MS does NOT support VM so you might consider going to the source.

Enhanced works great here...wow what a novel concept...it remembers my settings!!!

nothing here either..

Works great here and a welcome surprise in the OD family. Those who are having trouble reboot. I ran the program first and then rebooted. I'm not sure if that is required, but it is working here.

I love the feature to have it set it to show, for example, Thumbnails all the time.

I am having the same problem as Suriken. I have tried uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling but nothing helps.

If you do not own an OD Subscription you may do something similar with "Tweak UI for Windows XP" (start it and select "Common Dialogs"). I dont know if this works with Win2k too.

It changed my common dialogue settings that I had made in TweakUI, and since I wanted those settings, I went ahead and uninstalled, and rebooted as instructed. Everything ran s..l..o..w afterward. Another reboot and everything seems back to normal. I think I'll wait until this gets a little more development.

people should really read the texts that comes with these programs.

you MUST reboot your computer to use this program first.

hopefully this might cut down on some people disliking this great little app.

I have it installed on my system and see "Nothing", now aint' that weird.

This is a nifty little program, can't wait to see if it can work with the Office apps.

FYI, I DID reboot immediately after installing the application, and did not see anything.
Only upon deeper investigation did I realize that this is not an application which readily jumps out at you.
Before anyone else says "I don't see anything", like I did.. try this.
Open notepad (or a web site for that matter will do), click "file", "save as". Bam.. you will see then what the application is all about. Or try file.. open.. browse..
Hope this helps..

Might I suggest adding that to the readme.txt and/or history link on SDC

Awesome program. Just purchased ObjectDesktop (I think I have developed small addiction to the stardock store... lol) Definitely well worth the 50 bucks.

Keep up the good work, guys.

Looks slick, but any idea why I'm getting "ico" default icons all over the place, as seen in this screenshot:

Well, it's working, but the dialog window, for some reason, is bigger than normal and I can't make it smaller, just even bigger (when resizing):

OK
to those who did have the same problems as me it is easy...!
(thanks Bustin A Bogie)
all i did was install the latest JVM from java.com and restart the computer
(...it seems i started a trend with all these screenshots of problems )
