Enhanced Dialog Beta

Object Desktop starts 2005 with a bang!

The first beta of Enhanced Dialogs is now available for Object Desktop users.  Enhanced File Dialogs seamlessly hook in to replace the standard Windows file dialogs. Now users can control which icons show up on the left, always have resizable dialogs, and they actually remember what view you last used (details, icons, etc.).

If you don't already have Object Desktop, definitely look at getting it.  It's a must-have utility suite for enhancing your Windows experience. www.objectdesktop.com.

It doesn't appear to work on my system. When I run it, I get the configuration window. When I then try the Open dialog in an app, I just get the regular old Windows dialog box.

I don't know if Enhanced Dialog does this yet but it would be nice to be able to select from previoiusly accessed folders *and* previously accessed files, *and* be able to maintain previously accessed folders and files on a per-app basis, as well as favorite folders on a per-app basis as well

Doh it appears to be working now. Nonetheless it would nice if it had the abilities in my previous post.

I had to uninstall it as it killed my bluetooth.

What does enhanced dialog have to do with bluetooth?

This is cool. Up until now I've been using an app called EditBuddy. It is similar but it creates a custom menu instead of changing the actual places bar. One of the things that I loved about EditBuddy (That I'd like to see in "Enhanced Dialog" as well) (an echo of what Chris is saying I think) is the ability to have global (persistant) and application specific folders in the list. I'd love for "Enhanced Dialog" to know I'm using Photoshop and display a custom places bar for it that is different than say the one for my FTP program, or web browser. I've found that it's been a real time saver.

Wow that's really cool program...

Uninstalled tonight. I was trying to save a file in Expression 3 and hit the "Recent Documents" button. BAM. Program closed.

Fortunately Expression saves any time there is a crash. But I am not going to risk it again. I won't be using this for at least another version or two.

Apparently, I'm missing something, because both the Enhanced Dialogs and ObjectDock1.1 updates are not showing up on SDC and my sub is good until March 2005. Can someone clue me in? I'd really like to try out the Enhanced Dialogs.

Would be nice if the "help" button actually had some help in it. I clicked on it and nothing happened. It would be great for those of us that are not really that familiar with what this does and how we can benefit from it.

Enhanced Dialog is a Beta so you must have Show pre-release versions checked. ObjectDock is not part of Object Desktop, it's a separate purchase, well worth the money and to access it go to the Misc. section in SDC.

Favorite folders on a per app basis and a one-click button to restore all settings to XP default.

1) Is it work with MS Office 2003?

2) Just a suggestion: in my experience with this kind of application, it'll be useful if we had also a drop down button with favorites folders (as an option maybe) because it tends to increase...

3) Some Explorer integration will be great too. A nice example is FolderCache: we can access folders from system tray icon and from Explorer view button: Link

Using now and just like it

Well, I installed it and then had to uninstall it. MS Word (Office 2003) wouldn't open up when I had it installed. Plus, the initial loading of my machine locked up. Looks great! I'll just wait for the next beta release

I love it! Now if we could just get the "full-row-selection" feature for Windows Explorer...

Sounds great, but I installed it and don't see any changes at all.
Some screenshots would be nice so people could see what it's suppose to look like
