The steam counter keeps jumping back and forth.
Dec 24th 11:58am: 782.4 hours
Dec 22nd 4:10pm: 864.6 hours
Dec 21st 9:45pm: 771.1 hours
Looks like Steam support should get a nasty post.
This will be controlled by Steam so you would need to speak to them.
I imagine it will sort itself eventually though as probably some sort of database backend glitch.
