Start 11 - incorrectly displayed icons on the taskbar

Start 11 - incorrectly displayed icons on the taskbar

Start 11  - incorrectly displayed icons on the taskbar

start 11 1.47

windows 11

I have a problem, only the icons do not disappear, they just turn into others.

After every restart of the computer. For example, the PS icon looks like the Firefox icon and the opera icon is replaced by the Viber icon
And so all the icons on the taskbar

This has been happening for two days

Did as requested.  Set to always combine. It messed up by showing Libre Writer as Notepad++. Set to combined pin only and waiting to see if it messes up.

If it messes up, please create your own new thread and we will try to help you from there. Please also include more details.

  1. Windows full version numbers.
  2. Start11 version numbers.
  3. Is this issue happen on specific program only?
  4. Post a video of this issue so we can understand the issue better.

Also having this issue.

1. Windows 11 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.4037)
2. 2.08
3. I have only seen it happen with the libre office apps, all display the VLC icon instead of their own icon. Only happens when taskbar icons are combined.
4. That really shouldn't be necessary. The wrong icon is displayed for som apps in the Start11 enhanced taskbar when task as combined and nowhere else. Shows correct if not combined, correct in right click menu, correct in the preview displayed on hover, and so on.

There is new Start11 v2.10 Beta released recently, please uninstall Start11 v2.08, reboot immediately, download v2.10 beta. Install it. Reboot immediately again. Retest and report back in here: https://forums.stardock.com/529635/

It didn't fix the issue but it changed the behaviour slightly. The icon is now correct when the libre office apps are launched directly (shortcut, start menu), but when they are launched by opening an associated filetype in explorer they still show up using the VLC icon.

(Same user as above, apparently Start11 was bought with a different email than I logged in with before...)

Here is a screenrecording: Screen Recording 2024-08-19 182643.mp4

Had task manager open while recording. In libreoffice's case the issue might be related to how all the apps run under the soffice.bin process.

Has some other weird behaviours too. If I launch writer first and then calc using desktop shortcuts they'll be separated in the taskbar, the one launched first will have the correct icon and the second one uses the icon of the first one. If I do the same but launch through the start menu instead they get combined under the first icon...

This is an issue with Start11. Windows own taskbar has no issue keeping them apart as demonstrated in this video.

Good thing I happen to have two accounts since your forum has this bizarre limitation:

All videos were recorded with the 2.1.0.0 beta. The Start11 window is open in the first showing the version number. That's what the beta download gave me, I assume 2.1 is the same as 2.10 as you call it (ignoring that version numbers should not be treated like base 10 decimals). It like 2.1/2.10 has been released as it is now the regular download.

Just to confirm this issue only happen when you turn on Enhance taskbar? If you turn it off, just as a test, does the issue appear?
