Questions before buying Start11

subscriptions, updates, etc ...

Hello !

I cannot support the new windows 11 interface and learned of the existence of Start11, which seemed to me to be a great solution to my concerns.

Only here, I had a few questions before buying it:

- First of all, is it a subscription or a license purchase? I ask myself the question because if investing € 7 seems reasonable to me given the usefulness of the product, € 7 per month would not suit me at all for example.

- Then, I saw that Start11 had some bugs, and I was therefore wondering how the updates were carried out, that is to say if we have to watch the site regularly or if a notification was displayed to warn us

- Finally, I was wondering if there could be problems with Windows, whether in terms of functionalities or potentially problems with the arrival of potential updates from Windwos, notably concerning the start menu. I know this question is complex because we cannot predict the future, but I still wanted to ask it. And obviously, even if this question is a little naive, can Start11 cause problems with viruses? I understand that asking this on official support is not very respectable towards the development team and that the answers are not necessarily reliable, but it is nevertheless something that worries me and I wanted to have a potential answer from the community.

I apologize in advance if I'm not in the right place on the forum to ask that, and I also apologize for my broken English (I'm French so I'm not very good at writing long texts)

Thank you for reading me and thank you in advance for your answers

Hello,

If you buy Start11 app as a stand alone app the Lic. is good for Life .

Just save the download file in case you need to reinstall in the future.

Now you will receive all updates for Start11 as they become available .

If Start11 upgrades to a newer version at a later time i.e. Start12 then you

would need to buy another Lic. for the new version.

Start11 works for Windows10 also.

Now of course as Windows updates itself there is a chance of a conflict .

If so we do our best ASAP to get out a fix .

You are notified in your account page of any updates as the become available .

None of the Stardock apps will ever cause a Virus.

It is usually best to such down AV software before installing .

You can try the Trial version to check it out and then decide .

I was once worried that Microsoft would make an update for Windows 11 that would cause start 11 not to work, but I think if that were to happen it would have while Windows 11 was still in Beta. Windows 11 has received a lot of updates and never once has start 11 crashed or stopped working after an update so I feel pretty confident start 11 is now in the clear in regards to how it handles updates.

As far as updates for start 11, they have just now started splitting two versions. A release version that updates by simply checking for updates, these are more stable builds. And they now have Beta updates, like how windows has a Beta channel. These are found in your product page our via forum announcements. They are the more buggy releases and take a little more digging to actually install so they are not automatic.

Start 11 is worth it in my opinion. The biggest question and a very important one, do you want a single device option or the 5 device option. Because once you buy the single device option you will have to spend more money later on if you decide you want start 11 on more then one device

Thanks for your answers, I think I'll take the trial version to start with but the software looks pretty good to me!

And thanks for the information on the five devices, I'll take a look!
