Fences gets disabled again and again

I have Windows 10 64 Bit. Fences gets disabled again and again saying "Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly. As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled. To re-enable Fences right click on your Desktop and choose "Enable Fences". This disabling and re-enabling keeps repeating. Please provide solution.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know if you are on Corp PC with aggressive AV software / policies - most notably WebSense, now called ForcePoint. Is that the case for you?

I am not on Corp. PC. I only have Norton and Computer Tune anti-virus softwares.

Just for a test. Go offline. Disable your AV software and see if Fences work.

Thank you.

Tried after disabling AV. No difference. Fences starts as usual but soon gets disabled and asks that it be again enabled by right clicking on desktop. After being enabled, it again gets disabled and asks that it be once again enabled by right clicking on desktop. This keeps repeating.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thank you.

I have got the same problem. I am using last version (3.1.0.5).

So I applied the proposed procedure (purge and reinstall) two days ago and it worked. But my desktop organization was lost.

Today I started redefining my fences and moving my icons where appropriate and... crash! I run into the same problem again. I happened while redimensionning a fence.

I think version 3.1.0.5 is quite unstable. I wait for next version, hoping this will be solved.

Thanks for your quick answer.

1. My Windows 10 version is 20H2 (build 19042.1110)

2. Usually I don't download beta version of anything, I prefer the "stable" version. Now, as I do have a problem, I followed your recommendation and yesterday I purged and installed the v3.12 beta. Up to now, it works well. Wait and see...

Thanks for your help
