hydrogen-powered car VS diesel

hydrogen-powered car VS diesel

Someone tell me why million of government money is going into hydrogen-powered car when a diesel cars is very effiecent with fuel and pollution? I know hydrogen-powered car is better, but here and now couldn't we start to change over to diesel?

And just for the record, yes nuclear waste is a problem but there is a way to reuse the waste. When we use nuclear power we split the atom creating the waste. We need to learn to do what the sun does and figure out how to put it back together. For now we just bury it. That's alot better than the black smoke coming from the factories or cars.

oh we have screwed the pooch already, the planet will not recover in our life time that is for sure...

Kona, do you know what the Atlantic and Pacific Conveyors are? What they are and how they function, what they do to the weather patterns, control the seasonal changes, exactly how cold it is or hot?

Exactly what it would take to destroy one or both of them and what it would in fact do to the planet if such happens?

Or the history of the reversal of the electromagnetic fields of the planet and how when ( not if but when) it shifts again it will in fact tip the axis of the planet by at least 6 degrees of not. Consider this one fact, the human body and all living things are basically batteries with their own magnetic fields... who knows, primordial soup, back to the beginning?

Or the fact that the oceans were not salt water at the beginning, they became so because of the mineral run off from land, and everyone who figured it is ok to bury trash, toxic and all, is really doing more damage than they ever seemed to think they have, either that or they are so self centered they do not care..

anyway...

my wife gets upset with me when she happens to wash my pants and such because I refuse to throw my cig butts on the ground, I knock the cherry off and then put the butt in my pocket to throw out later in the trash...

First of all I do not subscibe to that evolution thing. I believe (As a good number of scientists are now agreeing with and finding out) that we were created. Second, you make a valid point. Everything on earth needs the sun to live. Without the sun = nuclear winter. Everything dies.

My wife hates the fact I smoke. But I pop my cherry in the ashtray then but the butt next to it and sometimes the butts catch fire.

Oh dear.....we were 'created'.
Darwin got it wrong again.

Perhaps some were 'created' like Dolly the sheep....but I'm quite happy in the knowledge that I evolved....sorta birth/death/natural selection - that sort of thing.
Some people call it pro-creation, or [gasp shock horror] 'sex'....but I could be wrong.....

I really don't want to get in any argument so I will just drop the subject about creation. Myself, I'm gonna go buy a hybrid.
Hmmmm, if someone did the creating, who created the creator? Or am I missing something...

who cares? everyone believes in something. I don't want to turn this into a big debate so I'll keep my beliefs to myself.

jeez IPlural. It seems sometimes that Jafo is so mean. Reminds me of a 5 year old I know. I hate smarta** comments.

I was just trying to put my two cents in without getting my head chopped off. But thanks IPlural, you are so cool.

kona0197: "Myself, I'm gonna go buy a hybrid."

How will that help? They don't get any better mileage than a Jetta TDI (the diesel version) currently. (That is in *real* driving conditions. The Car mags can provide you information on that.) If they don't get better gas mileage, that means that they are polluting just as much as the other cars. The technology just isn't there yet. There is a long way to go before hybrids and alternate fuel technology actually makes sense. If people want to quit polluting so much, they should start to car pool more. Or, not drive to work by themselves in a big SUV (none of them are fuel efficient). You wouldn't believe how many times I follow somebody 40+ miles on the x-way who is driving alone in a big SUV doing 70mph. *That* is where the waste is. People don't commute together. It's one person per car. It really is the way we live our lives not the technology that we should focus on in our present life.

to settle the debate lets look at how a Hybrid works... if I am correct it has a one cylinder gasoline engine that powers an alternator (that is all it is there for), and an electric motor which drives the car. I don't believe that a one ylinder gasoline engine can put the same emissions as a 4 cylinder diesel, but I may be wrong, i don't consider myself an expert on this. Also this gasonline engine is never under a load. No matter how fast you go it is always turning at the same speed... but I also could be wrong...

as for the battle on god... I agree with Kona, but I also agree with Jafo, The bible mostly just says we were created it didn't mention evolution or not, I believe we were created, but it several stages.

and Fuzzy, think maybe the creator is wondering the same thing

kona, no, I am far from cool, really really...

I'm an ass who is working on being a good person and at times it gets really hard

Karma, I have to transfer my pst over to this system, when I do I have some info for you... also a name and number with it, though I am not sure it is real or generated, something you might be able to look up though...

mm, unless you could link your ebox here and I can add you that way and send it now?

werewolf actually that is close to something I wonder about at times...

but consider the source and what would one expect

karma - are you telling me that a jetta gets 60 to 90 mpg like the new honda insight? Impossible. Where I live diesel costs more than premium gas. And yes, da_zman, hybrids pollute less.

Just some info on what's currently available (where I am anyway):

cool sig, thank you, love to read, there is a link up high that I posted from a good site with loads of info on it... in case you missed it...

input !!

I know, we should harness the super massive black hole at the center of our universe, every single one has a SMBH if not more than one, it is the missing black mass of space kinda neat how they found this out, playing around with radio telescopes and found that a certain range the color shift picked up motion and gave them the clues to seek out mroe information until they nailed it down...

talk about power zoom zoom

hey I just watched a movie (The Black Hole) and when they went into it they came out through the other side. That sounds like a worm hole.

Anyway, isn't a black hole a calapsed star? And being such, that means there is a object there as oppossed to a hole? The collapsed star might be the size of a large planet but nevertheless it still is a substance occupying that space.

Anyway, I haven't done much resource on this yet. Thanks for the link sig101. It is a start.

I just wonder to myself, why can't there be a charger on the brakes? when the brakes are applied, energy is creates by the friction of the wheels that are coming to a stop.

It just seems like the problem should be solved already. I wonder if the lean air buses are really clean air? I usually ride in those buses, and they are surprisingly fast. They sound different too... like generators.

anyoo... back to work.

'The Black Hole' used a 'little' artistic licence. A true black hole is a super dense star so compressed it's gravity doesn't allow light to escape. The more dense and massive the star, the greater the gravity. Anything getting close would be pulled in, and pulled to shreds.

Of course, I wouldn't be me if I didn't throw a spanner in the works. According to Einstein's theory of relativity light always travels at the speed of light no matter where you are, what forces are acting, or what speed you are travelling. Therefore, regardless of the gravity of a body light should escape at the speed of light, right? So how can a black hole 'pull down' light? Same problem with gravitational lenses, which supposedly bend light. If a light particle has zero mass how can gravity deflect it.

Oh dear, here I go again...
