Someone tell me why million of government money is going into hydrogen-powered car when a diesel cars is very effiecent with fuel and pollution? I know hydrogen-powered car is better, but here and now couldn't we start to change over to diesel?

kona0197, Dodge = the real american car? he he.... you mean the same Dodge that is owned by Daimler-Chrysler? (Which is mainly *German* engineered). I guess you can thank the German engineering for the new "perfected" Hemi.

I think you will see many more Chevys at the track than Ford or Mopar. (At least I always have). They are made of some pretty tough stuff.

BTW, to qualify the "american" car comment. *No* car can be considered American. Dodge/Chrysler is German engineered, Ford and Mazda swap parts, and Chevy and Toyota have had a long relationship. A lot of Mazdas end up more "american" than some Fords do.

Kona....no, that's an absurd statement....'perfected it'?
Aston wasn't interested in continuing a development for your Yank-tanks...they were busy perfecting their own projects....even IF they are now part of FOMOCO, as is Jaguar.
The US solution to power and performance is to plonk a bigger cast-iron donk in the front, pump up the Koni's and chuck on fatter rubber.....hardly sophisticated technical development...
I think back to 1986....when I had a Brabham BMW suspended over my head on a crane.....drive-train drag just ticking over the wheels as Warrick wanted us to put him back on the circuit as he still had the engine running....and I looked up at my unique view of an F1 car thinking....'one and a half litres......the same size as a Corolla....except it has 1200 horsepower.'

And not one of those 'things' that farts down the quarter mile ...like freeway racing without corners....but a fair-dinkum car that stops, goes AND steers.

Reciprocating 'vee' engines capable of 18,500 rpm for hours at a time...gear changes once every 2 second for 2 hours.
Then I look at a Dodge Viper......put a tandem axle on it and you might be able to support a bigger motor than 8 litres.....why not just pull the donk out of a Louisville?...

BTW...your new GTO, thanks to the Aussie Holden is called a Monaro here.....Aboriginal for 'woman's breast'.
You would have thought 'penis substitute' would be more apt...

@ KarmaGirl :
The only racing I know of or even care to acknowledge is NASCAR. And correct me if I'm wrong, there are more fords and pontiacs than chevys in that lineup. Top that off with no one driving a chevy is in the top 5 in point standings. In my house the word Chevy can get you slapped.

Nascar....ah, the joys of freeway-racing....anyone for turning left?.
I've worked them...did the first Nascar meetings ever outside the US....round and round and round and round and round....fortunately for us we had 'Auscars' as well...and they went clock-wise so we didn't get quite so dizzy...
Got the Nascar guys upset when they realized just how quick our little cars were on the oval...so much so they had to 'write it off' as a woman's category [cos there were a few women in the field].
Still, the prangs were always impressive...and the numbers were easy to read [important when you need to report incidents....I wish F1 would make it easier for us]...

I have always loved American domestic cars, and I have owned quite a few even though I live in England. But, although the cars I have owned were beautiful and powerful, they just didn't go round corners! Englands roads are very challenging for U.S. cars, and I have yet to find one that could really handle it. If you want true all round performance, you should look at English vehicles like a V8 Morgan or a Lotus Elise. These things handle like you wouldn't believe, and can "go a bit" in a straight line too.
I'm sure Jafo will join me in extolling the virtues of the Morgan. What do you think Paul?

Bryan...almost bought a Morgan 3 wheeler once....should have, too....saw it later on a truck [someone else had bought it]....had a big 'M' on the heads.....a Matchless Vee twin.....good for about 100mph...[sniff]...
Brother in Law just bought his 'retirement project'...a '54 Riley....just picked it up yesterday...[I just finished the Garage drawing for him to build to house it]...

My older brother,(a car dealer) has a 1954 MG TF. The thing is, when he bought it, it had never been built! It was in large wooden boxes, and every part was brand new and unused. He recently finished putting it together and it is utterly stunning in bright red. It has about 100 miles on the clock now. I'm soooo jealous!
This is what a '54 MG TF looks like... http://www.stonebridgecars.com/vehicles/20002/0527.html but my brother's is brand new.

If I were him I'd never drive it...

I hope someone in here can help me. I'm using Windowblinds 4. I have all the updates so far. It's working wonderful. It's very fast and efficient. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out. How do you change the color of the desktop skin? You could do this with windowblinds 3.5. Yet, I cannot figure out how to do it with 4. Can anyone out there help?

TBoy, I can't really help you, but you might have a bit more luck if you create your own topic and ask your question in that.

kona0197 - "The only racing I know of or even care to acknowledge is NASCAR." He he....I guess that explains it all...... Umm...well...jeez... You are talking about a bunch of cars that have to be built to a spec and all run at about the same hp. *Then* throw in a couple restricter plate races. Now, I enjoy watching Nascar sometimes, but I much rather put myself in a 5 point harness and go head to head with somebody at the tree. A drag car and a circle track or road coarse car are made completely different. I'm not much of a "watcher". I like to actually be in the game. There's not much difference in the cars in nascar besides the emblem on the hood (and, don't kid yourself about that). It's all in the driver of the car when it comes to Nascar. Now, an ARCA race is something completely different. (Should check those crazy guys out if you're into circle track racing). The only time that I like Nascar is when they do their road tracks. Oh, and I almost forgot-"there are more fords and pontiacs than chevys in that lineup." Pontiac and Chevys are both GM, remember? They are made of the same parts. (You can get 3.8liter engines in both Chevy and Pontiac, and the engine is considered a "Buick" engine, for example.)

Jafo- "And not one of those 'things' that farts down the quarter mile ..." If you think that drag cars "fart" down a quarter mile, you have obviously never been in one

zoom zoom...

nice link BoXXi

I'd like a Mini, see one every now and then down town, looks like it would be fun.

Oh and I didn't know they called those paved carriage trails over there in the UK roads

Be much fun on a GSXR 750 I am betting.

Angie...[I remembered]....'fahrts', not 'farts'.... Spell checker

I tend to have a pathological dislike for drags, as they were always thrust upon us at Adelaide [The GrandPrix] as demonstration events, and we HAD to hang around just incase one dropped a bundle or chucked a wobbly...till 7.30 at night...and we'd been working since 8 that morning...dealing with 'real' cars...

We just wanted to get out of there to the pub for tea, after 12 hours of 40 degree heat....last thing we needed was some funnycar going blap-blap, hey, ain't I noisy?.....not when there's beer to be drunk...

Jafo, I guess it's all what you are used to. Of course, I have never driven a track car (though my hubby has) so I can't compare. I also value my life, so drag racing is a better option (much less likely to crash). I like watching just about any racing, but I like to actually drag race.

The reason why they're looking into it is because there is NO bad thing about hydrogen power whatsoever, albeit it's high-flammability. And with the exaust being nothing but water, which would return to the atmosphere, you'd essentially be helping the enviroment BY driving the car there might even be a way to harness the water from the exaust, condense it, and run it over the engine itself to help cool it

Aston Martin... I can't believe I forgot about them.

What I don't understand is why people keep getting the labels of the cars mixed up for the Aston Martin.

The Aston Martin Vantage (DB7 is NOT the Aston Martin Vanquish (V12)

I want the Vaquish by the way, also.

Funny, I can't seem to find how it does city/highway??? I guess it doesn't matter? It matters to me! Make it run on hydrogen. Now that's a car.

Alfa Romareo (spelling) are nice, had an instrutoc who collects them, had a ride in one and it handled like a go cart and accelerated smoothly with little under or over steering on the curves.. Of course that might be because he knew his cars and how they handled...
