Apple OS-X Gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Apple OS-X Gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Looks like apple didn't appreciate my apple DX theme, it must have been too realistic for theme. Well it’s coming back under a different name, and with minimal reference to apple. Hope it uploads.

Work on something original, and you won't have to worry what Apple thinks.....

jark...are you feeling tougher than Apple today?...

Apple's probably going through another wave of crackdowns. They go through fits of being possessive of the OSX 'look'. I know they sent a cease & desist letter to one of the Aqua sites... AquaSoft was it?

Jim, I think calling it Orange won't help, the French telecom giant will be after you.

Seems like the names of all the fruits have been copyrighted .

Jafo,

It has been pointed out that there are other themes here with the apple logo. Does one standard apply for all submitted skins or is it a "hit/miss" practice?

How about 'Babya System'?
That's not used....[or should I say 'useless']...

bmetelsky....I guess it's all about 'degrees'.
'Emulate' a Mac 100% and you'll have 100% opposition.....that sort of thing...

I really like the Mercury theme done by VoodooFreak (I think). It is definitely 100% Mac. Not that I would like to see it removed, just seems inconsistent to me.

bmetelsky....perhaps when push actually comes to shove any and every Apple-flavoured skin and wall will have to be deleted.

It may not seem 'consistent' but perhaps it's more a case of 'enough is enough', and now is the time to attempt to convince people that maybe Apple-related works are going to be a 'problem'...

Adam...the problem is quite simple.
Apple won't consider your work as a 'threat', but rather as a theft of their copyright.

Ultimately this is not about what is 'popular' or not, it's about what is legal or not.

Jark may suggest uploading Apple graphics over at Deviantart.com, but he has probably forgotten the furore of debate, etc way back before either Wincustomize OR Deviantart even existed, over the use/misuse of Apple/Mac Logos, etc.
AND it took a lot of pushing and shoving to finally get across to Devart that Artists' intellectual copyright is a pivotal issue....and that was a bit strange considering Devart's content.
So, they [Devart] get rid of the 'Chick-wall photo-thefts', etc, only to replace them with Apple content? Not very clever at all...

Leave it/them there for the moment....I personally don't use DesktopX, so I don't determine what is OK or not in that section. It's far more appropriate to leave things in the hands of those who 'know'...

As for lots of Apple themes...they'll be predominantly OSX-type, just as we had a flood of XP-type...or Whistler-type....or BeOS-type...or....you get my drift...

Total number of skins downloaded each day devided by 10....updated once, daily...

mm, well the OS-X 2.5 part is kinda iffy though might be changed enough to be skipped, but the "Apple" is sure a poke in the eye that will get their attention when running a web search I would think.

What about all the icons posted here for object dock. Aren't they copyright infringements (Corel logo, for example) or do they fall under 'fair use'?

dunno, but taking a trade marked name which is used in corporate branding and applying it in such a manner sure is, even without the graphics and such.

Peff...using a Corel icon to launch a Corel app is certainly 'fair use'.
It only becomes a problem if you used the Corel graphic to make an icon to launch an Adobe app, for example...
