Roy, of course some of the responses to people who are upset about the cap have been regrettably somewhat (cough) less than polite.

On the other hand, perhaps not having been here long you haven't seen the many threads over the months of people angrily and sometimes profanely complaining and attacking because they've reached their download cap or the server is busy during peak load times and they can't download. Perhaps you haven't seen the people who brag about using a warez version (and say people are stupid to pay for anything). Or those who accuse WC of lying about the site being busy during peak load times (the contributing users get preferred access during those times). Or say this "f'd up" site should just buy more servers (duh) as if the money can be printed as needed in the back room. And those who trash the site and the artists' work while complaining that they can't download anymore of what they say is "crap." And in the beginning some of the people here (including Froggy) explained and explained and explained the economics of the site, site use and downloads, how one could contribute to the site without paying but through participation, etc, ad nauseum.
So now, clearly some people here have lost patience with complaints and accusations and perhaps react a bit too harshly too quickly to posts that appear to be along the same lines that I've mentioned.
I myself started out using the freeware WindowBlinds just to try it out and see if it agreed with my older PC and OS. It did. So I bought it for the enhanced features. And for $20 it was the best thing in terms of daily unobtrusive and fun use that I got for my Win98 box.(Well Proxomitron too for web surfing without ads and stuff, but that is freeware.) Now I've got XP and still find WB and Object Desktop worth the $.
All that is required to avoid the download cap is to contribute to the site by helping out other users on this board, contributing some skins, walls, whatever or by licensing a Stardock app or getting a WC subscription. That's really not outrageous for unlimited downloads and premium access to the site during peak load times.
Anyway, that's some of the background although not necessarily an excuse for some of the frustration and responses you've seen to posters who are upset about the cap on downloads or "sever busy" notices.
