I think that it is unfair to make people PAY to use this site, i only come here for sysmetrix skins, and occasionally wallpaper. Now, i cant download anymore until i PAY!!! That is crap!! This site used to be free, what happened?

US$32.00 per hour = A$64.00 per hour in round numbers ....
A$150,000. worth of skins for A$40.00 per year.
You sure summed it up in one neat package motion!
Hey Jafo .... A$135,000 PA ..... you could start looking at Ferraris on that sort of money.
PI was not much fun in a set of leathers BTW ..... 44.5C plus the usual windburn! Gak!!!

Me too paxx.... But I just wanted to put a price to these things so that the 'ungratefull' types might get an idea of what they are getting for the miniscule fee of 10 dollars U.S. per year.

/me was just wondering what it would be like to earn $32 per hour!! I have done the same job for 26 years and I still don't get half that! Good old England eh? everything is twice the price, and the wages less than half everyone elses. blech!

Poor, poor BoXXi......me is just poor....sob.....

Paxx: If someone just wants wallpapers they can still get a WinCustomize subscription.

Digital Blasphemy, which is just wallpapers, is $25 per year.

What's it like, Boxxi? It's nice - really nice. I did it once. Unfortunately, it was a contract job, and a rather short one at that. *sighs* ^_^

BoXXi, think, consulting and netowrk support contract with specialized areas

Citrix, Medical Manager, MediFax, DocuFax, AIX, Cisco, Novell, (sic) MicroSoft Products, Wireless Data Communications, Security both wire and wireless ( Microwave - Spread Spectrum Radio with Freq hopping 64-128bit encription, Lanalyzers, Packet Sniffers, and also net security.

Then think $90.00 - $120.00 or higher and hour if travel is involved or Federal Government, DOD, BIA, NATO and how you break the contract down.

Unless your working for someone else and then $35.00 - $50.00 and hour depending on your position in the food chain and contract with them to complete their support contracts with clients.

so I've heard

Jafo, green? um, must be the culture difference, but if you was waving Green around all day at a public event in the USA you'd go to jail or mugged !

Green = weed, pot, reefer, marijuana or money !!

Must be a Green Flag?

Security and wireless/satellite is all /really/ big out here right now - especially with all of the gov't contractors..

Disgusting money in it. Heck, CSC pays their NT admins insane amounts of money. *sighs wistfully*

When I was with Speed-COM we did all the US and Nato base exchanges data communications in Europe, Japan, South Korea, oh and the USA. They are now in Africa and South America, I used to run product development and do all site surveys, link engineering, Government certification and freq purchase/registration. But actually I ended up doing all that and installing, trouble shooting, hand holding, nose blowing and lived in airports for a couple of years. Started with them back in 1994 when they were The Wave Wireless and up until 1997 when we ended up having 10 mbit Microwave BRouters and Access Points with 1.5 - 11 mbit fall back for rain fade. Microwave and Sat get reflected off of rain drops and moister in the air and the link degenerates and once it hit a certain point of deterioration or complete loss of link it would automatically fall back to SSR 915 mhtz - 2.4 gtz which are decommissioned Military (FCC) wave lengths. Portable 900 and 2.4 phone really screwed with it sometimes in city areas unless you had some real height.

yeah good money, but your live the job or someone else is waiting to fill your shoesit is for single people for sure ...

cool

Has to be something to be standing there when they hit it hard and open them up.

I had a 440 6pack 1970 Dart with a friend that we were building. Friend, ha, had, ha ha, well turns out he wasn't a friend and he had it because when he packed his butt up and moved north while my family and I were on vacation, he happened to pack the car up with him because it was at his house. When you put your foot on the floor and it opened up your teeth would rattle!

My next bike is going to be a GSXR 750, I have to wait until next year though because my truck will not be paid off until then and my wife threw a fit when she found the Suzuki pamphlets in the glove box.

We used to have a strip on the other side of town but it was closed down by the Blue Hair coalition, told the Mayor he best get ride of it or loose their vote so when it came time for taxes and such they found all kinds of reasons to for it's sale... eck

I didn't read all the posts to this thread and it may have taken me too long even if I did. So I'm going to go ahead and said what's on my mind despite the fact that everyone else has said it.

WinCustomize started out as a transition site. It didn't end up that way, but it started out that way. Stardock, seeing many skinners ditched on the side of the street, felt reason enough to provide many artists here a place to dwell. Since this site turned into something so popular, Stardock couldn't just up and delete it... there were too many users registered within the first week of opening... this was back in March of 2001. Within two years, the site has grown to the limit it has, free of charge to all users.

The bandwidth this site is hogging is free and a major loss to Stardock. The admins, wizops, moderators, and various other people donating to this site... AREN'T GETTING PAID. If we made it so that everything was to be paid for, the service may be something like 50 dollars a month... not including the wages paid to our beloved admins and mods. The artists aren't charging anyone for downloading their work.

I personally have seen these admins and mods stood up to every rant and flame thrown at them through msgs and emails from every direction for the past two years. Not only have they NOT thrown everything down and give up on all of us, they continued making this site the quality it is today.

All people out there with a site of their own understand how hard and time consuming it is to make a quality site, no less maintaining the population that exploded within the first three months. Before you and your moronic ass come around insulting everyone I so respected, think about how much you -have- to pay for the works of these artists.. AS WELL AS EVERYONE ELSE OUT THERE NOT ON THIS SITE... who are also taking the insults given to them throughout the years.

Everything adds up, doesn't matter how few the occurances are. If you don't like it, leave and don't be an ass about it. Insults up front, we don't need you hogging our bandwidth if you aren't enjoying it in the first place.

One year on S/F I was 3 feet from Doohan as he clocked the fastest terminal speed through the traps on a GP500 at P.I......324km.....about 203mph...bit of a buzz when there is nothing in between he and me but 3 feet of thin air....

This weekend it was MV's....some seriously expensive/valuable bikes...one-offs.
Probably about 260 or 280kph.....[Agostini is getting older]...

Sorry for the long rant. I'm barely getting any of their msgs and I'm a journeyman who hangs out only on the msgboards and only browse graphics here and there... but geez, I get pissed from people like them. I have no idea how you guys do it, but I am thoroughly impressed... for as long as I can remember.

You guys, along with everyone else out there, are awesome.
