ouch

well if you happen to be seeking an computer based position, you should check the alt groups on your ISP's usenet server, like alt.jobs.fl etc. I know that in many states they list position of employment for local and out of state remote-contractor. Graphics art, CAD, IT, Help-Desk, and so on.

Certifications are not always in demand and they are sometimes more than willing to circumvent the demand for them in leu of actual experience.

Being independent is always hard, starting out is a even worse, or was for me...

hoping the best for you with it

*laughs* I started out a decade ago, IPlural. Certifications? Yeah, I've got a handful of those, blah. The biggest demand out here, unfortunately, is for security clearances - especially the SCI level - which I don't have, and can't get, unfortunately.

But you're right - independance is great, but the price of it sucks! ^_^

Well then, actually you might want to look into the Non-Profit sector leaning towards medical Clinics.

AIX, SCO, SQL and or various higher end hardware appliances like Cisco, ect, experience?

If so, check in those areas, they have full funding grants and also pay extreamly well as you move up the chain, unless they are seeking and you fill the top link CIO and then you can pretty much expect to bring in anywhere from high 5 to low 6 figures.

Research as much as you can on HIPAA if you consider the above. Microsoft has a big push in cornering HIPAA compliance which all Clinics and Hospital, Health Providors must meet, HIPAA being the Federal regulation they will have to meet nation wide in 2003 and mnay will need extensions because there is not enough people who understand the regulation and the technology... meaning $$$$$$$$$ for those who do, it is going to be like the dotcom of the near future as far as fast money for those on top of it, though once the roll out and cloe to being met it will fall off. But then again, you never know exactly how that will turn about with the way things have happened these last two years.

anyway, just a thought, and a possibility to check into...

Enh, NT/2K, BSD (and consequently I suppose I could BS my way through Linux and other flavors,) Exchange, light J2E, even lighter VB - unfortunately no Cisco - but I've had to work on Sun hardware before. ^.^ I've always avoided SQL and Oracle and stuff like the plague.

Wish I could get that bloody clearance though - the most frequently hiring people out here are always CSC, Raytheon, Northrup-Grumman, etc.

Though - hopefully - I'll be able to get out of the computer field some day. ^_^

thats hard, the corps hiring all needing the clearance...

Something will come up though, and sooner or later something really special will
also

You'll read something hear something and a light bulb will click on and the rest
will be ancient history so to speak

Like the two guys who designed this mounting frame with a wheeled base, IR sensors
for tracking things in the path and an interpreter which handles all the basic controls
for steering. A Robot, which you bolt an old laptop to and install the os on under
windows. and you use a scripting language which is OOP like Java, C/C++. you can program it as you like or they have a basic set of commands and such that it comes ready to do.

It costs them under 100.00 a unit to build and they sell for something like 600.00 at different outlets. Not a bad profit and it will only go up as they add things to it.

Bill gates started out making traffic counters, those boxes on the side of the road with the air hose plugged into it and the hose stretched across the road counting every car or truck that passes over it.

Something will happen

IPlural - I used to be in tech support. I hated customer complaints with it. O' and talking to people that didn't even know what a plug was. I got to say, for alot it can be stressful. But a good job. I enjoyed the time I was there.

Now I'm home 24/7 waiting to get better then going through wonderful OVR for Web development degree. Plus do graphics on the side. And after school, get a job, gather enough money, get my A+ Cetification. The freakin tests are like $280 total for that

Yeah it's expensive for sure, more than once I wanted to tell someone to box it up and ship it back with a request for a refund because they were to mindless to own a computer I know what you mean!!

Got a plan working which is always a good thing, even if in the end it turns out to only be a vehicle to your final destination.

Something to consider with web-design is also offering desktop branding to match the site theme in colors and art-work. Which is something I am kicking around right now with consideration to present clients and future ones also.

your opinion doesn't matter primerica, if you had a real one then it might, no one is getting rich off of this site, you superficial wanabee. The artists who make this their home get all of fame from this site, thn the free beer crowd like you and your welfare collecting A$# come along and spoil the fun for everybody. We don't expect you to spend money here, we just expect you to give credit where it is due, as for the band width limitations of this site it all be attributed to leeches like you who take all they can and never give anything back, so if you want something to suck, me and all of the artists here have alot for you to suck on!
