Freedom...what does it mean to you?

I've tried to understand what it is to have 'freedom' compared to not having any and low and behold...my cats showed me better than any history book.

When on my computer my cats 'LOVE' to be with me in my room and if the sun shines too bright from my foyer into my doorway and glares on my puter screen I want to shut the door completely and sure enough...all my cats freak out and run for the door...but if I leave it open even a crack...they stay happy and placid and feel safe because they know they have a 'choice' to leave...

I guess what I learned is...freedom is not only a necessity but it is also a 'natural' instinct and to desire it and it's RIGHT is inherently GOOD...

Okay, cheesy analogy but for me...anyway...it rang true.

Hey Shmoopy! It is way past my sleepy time< but I wanted to tell you about Randy. Randy is the king of the house(or so he thinks

). A 4 year old run of the mill cat. Well he acts the same way. If the door to the Puter room is closed he makes every effort to get out, but if i leave it cracked open, Randy is very content to stay and hang out with me. Thanks for the insight!!!

Freedom as a society? to dynamic for a short one...

Personal Freedom for me is seeking happiness without it costing anyone else any of their happiness, or that which they are seeking and without them screaming or attempting to take what I perceive(d) as mine unless I off it and that in it self is an act of freedom.

In a word

Freedom = choice

Once choice is removed you are no longer free to take action or not as you see fit.

Your cat's are fine as long as they know and understand they have the choice to either leave or stay for whatever reason, but once that choice is removed by design or by chance, their freedom has been taen from them and they wig out.
