Freedom...what does it mean to you?

I've tried to understand what it is to have 'freedom' compared to not having any and low and behold...my cats showed me better than any history book.

When on my computer my cats 'LOVE' to be with me in my room and if the sun shines too bright from my foyer into my doorway and glares on my puter screen I want to shut the door completely and sure enough...all my cats freak out and run for the door...but if I leave it open even a crack...they stay happy and placid and feel safe because they know they have a 'choice' to leave...

I guess what I learned is...freedom is not only a necessity but it is also a 'natural' instinct and to desire it and it's RIGHT is inherently GOOD...

Okay, cheesy analogy but for me...anyway...it rang true.

That's a great analogy, Shmoopy. Freedom is a natural desire of all life and those who should plot and otherwise deny that basic right of life are inheartly going against the nature of man or beast.

On a serious note...I mean...freedom of speech? HELLO? Freedom of 'dress'? HELLO? Freedom of religion or the lack thereof? HELLO? Freedom to be female and get an education? Freedom to show your face in public? Freedom to not be flogged or shot on site for 'religious' beliefs set back in the dark ages? HELLO??????????

Freedom is ONLY appreciated when it is taken from you.

Its absense gives it value...

There are those whose backward beliefs denys those freedoms to women, they are not my friends. We have progressed beyond the stone age... it's 2003 AD! not BC!

Iben, I haven't had anyone tell me that my skins trashed their machine, but I did get some bad comments and a few PUKE icons. If you upload you will get some wierd comments from people that cannot skin. Shmoopy: My cat does the same thing. I learned to leave the door cracked.

Yeah - with things like that, it's often best to just not say anything. 'Turn the other cheek' to quote from a popular world religion. ^_~
