One song lyric.... keep it going

One song lyric.... keep it going

As time goes on,
I realize, just what you mean to me...
And now, now that you're near,
promise your love;
that I've waited to share..
and dreams, of our moments together,
Color my world with hope, of loving you.....

I feel like a dumbo. I have no knowledge of any of the songs you guys posted. When were these songs released?
Tell u what.
I'll post back the oldest song that I remember as a new release.

If every word I said
Could make you laugh
I'd talk forever
I asked the sky just what we had
It showed forever
(together my love)
If the song I sing to you
Could fill your heart with joy
I'd sing forever
(together my love)

Forever, forever
I've been so happy loving you

(together my love)
Let the love I have for you live in your heart
And be forever
(together my love)

Forever, forever
I've been so happy loving you

If every word I said could make you laugh
I'd talk forever

Forever, forever
I've been so happy loving you

(searched the net for it. A cut and paste job. Apologies)

Time to go off on a weird tangent.....

Eleven moustachioed daughters, running in a field of fat,
The moon is high, the mandrake screams,
Please come to our Sabbat.
The changeling children shiver, round the fire their mothers dance,
With strangely painted faces,
That smile but never laugh.
The crow-pecked gibbets victim swings broken in the cage,
His hands cut down to make a crown,
To wear as our homage.
Round and round the magic ring soft fingures fastly rush,
And wolf-like things and toads with wings whisper wetly:
"Come with us".

.....

now, try and guess who wrote those lyrics and the duck will come down and give you a hundred dollars.

Motion .... you've been smoking that stuff again!
Dunno, it has just a touch of Frank Zappa on a bad trip about it!

Wombat_1, The lyrics were written by Vivian Stanshall, a member of a group called "The Bonzo Dog Band", which were mostly a Neil Innes driven band. Mostly they made comedy, tongue-in-cheek music from the late 60's until present. Long before Wierd Al and other such performers.

Cheap thrills in the back of my car
Cheap thrills, how fine they are
Cheap thrills up and down my spine
I need it, I need it, 'cause it feels so fine

Cheap thrills all over the seat
Cheap thrills, your kind of lovin' can't be beat
Cheap thrills up and down my spine
I need it, I need it, 'cause it feels so fine

Cheap thrills, I can't wait another day
Cheap thrills, you gotta try to sneak away
Cheap thrills up and down my spine
I need it, I need it, 'cause it feels so fine

Cheap thrills set fire to my soul
Cheap thrills like a story untolk about
Cheap thrills up and down my spine
I need it, I need it, 'cause it feels so fine

Etc. etc. etc.

After all the jacks are in their boxes
and the clowns have all gone to bed
You can hear happiness staggering on down the street
footsteps dressed in red
And the wind whispers Mary
A broom is drearily sweeping
up the broken pieces of yesterdays life
Somewhere a queen is weeping
Somewhere a king has no wife
And the wind, it cries Mary
The traffic lights, they turn, uh, blue tomorrow
and shine their emptiness down on my bed
The tiny island sags down stream
'cause the life that lived is,
is dead
And the wind screams Mary
Uh-will the wind ever remember
the names it has blow in the past?
And with this crutch, its old age, and its wisdom
it whispers no, this will be the last
And the wind cries Mary

When I woke up this mornin,
I was feelin' might fine
I hadn't got my pyjamas
And the bed I was in wasn't mine,
So I'm headin home for breakfast
Just as soon as I find my shoes
'Cos there's nuthin' in the fridge 'round here
I got those got no breakfast blues

Well I gathered up my clothes
And I heard the front door slam
So I climbed out of the window
In case it was her old man
And now I'm headin home for breakfast
Even though I never did find my shoes
Cos there's plenty in that fridge back home
Aint got those got no breakfast blues....

well I woke up Sunday morning
with no way to hold my head
that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't
bad so I had one more for dessert
then I fumbled through my closet
for my clothes
and found my cleanest dirty shirt
and I shaved my face
and combed my hair
and stumbled down the stairs
to meet the day
i'd smoked my brain the night before
with cigarettes and songs
that I've been pickin'
but I lit my first and watched a small kid
cussin' at a can that he was kickin
then I crossed the empty street and
caught the sunday smell
of someone fryin chicken
and it took me back to something
that I'd lost somehow
somewhere along the way

Jackie is a punk
Judy is a runt
They both went down to Berlin, joined the Ice Capades
And oh, I don't know why
Oh, I don't know why
Perhaps they'll die.
Second verse, same as the first
Third verse, different from the first.
Jackie is a punk
Judy is a runt
They both went down to Frisco, joined the SLA
And oh, I don't know why
Oh, I don't know why
Perhaps they'll die

Ahh, the Ramones.

Winter is here again oh Lord
Haven't been home in a year or more
I hope she holds on a little longer

Sent a letter on a long summer day
Made of silver, not of clay
I've been runnin' down this dusty road

Wheel in the sky keeps me turnin'
I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps me turnin'

I've been trying to make it home
Got to make it before too long
I can't take this very much longer
I'm stranded in the sleet and rain
Don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again
The mornin' sun is risin'
It's kissing the day

Wheel in the sky keeps me turnin'
I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps me turnin'

The Silver Tounged Devil and I....Kris Kristoferson

I took myself down to the Tally Ho Tavern
To buy me a bottle of beer
I sat myself down by a tender young maiden
Who's eyes were as dark as her hair

And while I was searching from bottle to bottle
For something un-foolish to say
That silver tounged devil just slipped from the shadows
And smilingly stole her away

chorus: I said girl don't you know he's a devil
He's everything that I ain't
Hiding intentions of evil under the smile of a saint
All he's good for is getting in trouble
And slipping his share of the blame
And some people swear he's my double

And some even say we're the same
But the silver-tounged devil's got nothing to lose
And I'll only live 'till I die
We take our own chances and pay our own dues
The silver tounged devil and I

Like all the young ladies who've laid down beside him
She knew in her heart that he lied
But nothing that I could have said could have saved her
No matter how hard that I tried
'Cause she'll offer her soul up to darkness and danger
Of a world that she's never known
And open her arms at the smile of a stranger
Who'll love her and leave her alone

Then why do I associate that song 'Forever' with John Stamos. I remember him singing the piece? Maybe I've mixed up facts.

Loving Her was Easier...Kris Kristofferson

I've seen the morning burning golden on the mountains in the skies
Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies

Turning on the world the way she smiles upon my soul as i lay diing

Healing with the colors of the sunshine and the shadow of her eyes

Waking in the morning to the feeling of her fingers on my skin
Wiping out the traces of the people and the places that i've been

Teaching me that yesterday was something that i never thought of trying

Talking about tomorrow and the money love and time we'd have to spend

Loving her was easier than anything i'll ever do again

Coming close together with a feeling that i've never know before,in my time

She ain't afraid to be a woman or afraid to be a friend

I don't know the answer to the easy way she opens every door in my mind

Dreaming was as easy as believing it was never gonna end

Loving her was easier than anything i'll ever do again

You take away my air
You make my lungs collapse
I die tonight

Feeling devastated
That's what I call
Livin' in your memory
That's what I call
Tired and deflated
That's what I call
Love

I tidy up your room
You tidy up my life
Show me the door

I'm abandoned here
I'm warm to the core
I can feel
You sink I swim
We never got in that deep
You bend I break
I die tonight

Me and Bobby McGee KRIS KRISTOFERSON

BUSTED FLAT IN BATON ROUGE,
HEADIN FOR THE TRAINS;
FEELIN NEARLY FADED AS MY JEANS,
BOBBY THUMBED A DIESEL DOWN
JUST BEFORE IT RAINED;
TOOK US ALL THE WAY TO NEW ORLEANS.

I TOOK MY HARPON OUT OF MY DIRTY RED BANDANNA
AND WAS BLOWIN' SAD WHILE BOBBY SANG THE BLUES;
WITH THEM WINDSHIELD WIPERS SLAPPIN TIME
AND BOBBY'S CLAPPIN HANDS WE FINALLY
SANG EVERY SONG THAT DRIVER KNEW

FREEDOM'S JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR NOTHIN LEFT TO LOSE,
NOTHIN' AIN'T WORTH NOTHIN' BUT IT'S FREE;

FEELIN' GOOD WAS EASY, LORD WHEN BOBBY SANG THE BLUES;
AND FEELIN WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME,
GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME AND BOBBY MCGEE

FROM THE COAL MINES OF KENTUCKY
TO THE CALIFORNIA SUN,
BOBBY SHARED THE SECRETS OF MY SOUL;
STANDIN' RIGHT BESIDE ME, LORD
THROUGH EVERYTHING I DONE,
AND EVERY NIGHT SHE KEPT ME FROM THE COLD.

THEN SOMEWHERE NEAR SALINAS, LORD,
I LET HER SLIP AWAY
LOOKIN' FOR THE HOME I HOPE SHE'LL FIND;
AND I'D TRADE ALL OF MY TOMORROWS
FOR A SINGLE YESTERDAY

HOLDIN BOBBY'S BODY NEXT TO MINE

FREEDOM'S JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR NOTHIN LEFT TO LOSE,
NOTHIN' AIN'T WORTH NOTHIN' BUT IT'S FREE;

FEELIN' GOOD WAS EASY, LORD WHEN BOBBY SANG THE BLUES;
AND FEELIN WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME,
GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME AND BOBBY MCGEE

Kris K. got me through plenty tough times.... still does. Sorry for the caps.
