I think duck pins are small bowling pins they are hit with smaller bowling balls which don't have any finger holes in them.

Duck pins are pins to pin the duck on the board. Like they do with butterflies. And I say dutch people are crazy! There are books around for people who do not understand the dutchies. These are especially handy for the people down under who think a little ball is a duck while you have to duck for the ball that is hit your way along with the pin and grassroots, and if you are unlucky, with the club too. I know, I was taught to hit through the ball and when they said "let loose", the club went where the ball should have gone to. Everyone ducked but the ball stayed where it was put See? Dutchies are not only crazy, they are unhandy as well
