What's special bout Bryce?

What's special bout Bryce?

I can't seem to understand what is so special about Bryce? I use POVRay, a freeware to render my WP's and it works just fine. Maybe I would like it if I could try it out, but it seems that there is no demo or shareware version of Bryce.
Well whatever!!!!

Back on subject...
I suggest that all you bryce haters go down to www.3dcommune.com and check the bryce section.
It has some outstanding art, artists that jump to mind are Pinhead, kaes and Hobbit.
they show that it isn't the program, its the artis.
It uses booleans, yes, but doesn't a painting use booleans.
unless your memory of peinting only reachers fingerpainting in kindergarten you'd know that every painting starts out with simple objects like cubes and cylinders.
A great artist in bryce could be a loser in 3ds max or LW (lightwave)
i installed Blender a short time ago... when i used it for five minutes my computer crashed.
the only terrain freeware proggie i recommend is terragen, which still has a long road ahead before it supports vegetation, trees, realistic rivers, rocks...

mich2k: And then again lots of people don't need a 'terrain generator' to make terrain. You think there is no difference between somone that can do that quality of work freehand and someone who lets bryce make their trees for them?

What makes me mad is when people are like "What? You expect me to actually draw trees and mnountains myself???? Why should I waste the time learning to draw water?"

Comparing Bryce to real Artistic craft is like comparing Legos to Sculpture. Sure, you can make pretty stuff, but 90% of everyone who uses it is just piecing together premade stuff, or worse, letting Bryce do it.

Kudos to the 10% that do the right thing.

baker...in all honesty I'd be willing to bet the percentages are not 90 - 10 but more like 99 - 1...

You could also try it at [email protected]
But i think ronmeijer14@hotmail is right, i've received some mails before from people who are around wincustomize, that wanted me to created something for ehm.
So you can mail it to hotmail or yahoo, but also ask it now i am around here.

I have created all my WP's in POVRay, I've used booleans and stuff. And I think that my stuff too has come out looking good (if I may say so myself). That brings me back to the basic question: Why $200 for stuff that can be done as well as better on a freeware?
And as for the gallery mich2K, goto povray.org and check out their IRTC website: you'll see what I am talking aout.

I have Bryce 4&5 and if you get past the landscapes you can do just about about anything with it. I just DL POVRay and all I saw was a bunch of text and when I tried to render it gave me an error, so I trashed it. Bryce is wide open you just have to know how to manipulate the program to get it to do what you want.

My two cents.

Agree with monty, if you rule bryce, you rule wincustomize.
Das any one know where adni makes his wall from?
I've noticed that it looked very much like bryce work.

Styl skinner I really wouldn't say "you rule wincustomize". I don't know what you meant by that but their are alot of great artists here that never used Bryce.

And I believe adni uses Bryce and Photoshop to create his walls.

i usd bryce at one time till my trial ran out then i was forced to learn my 3ds, and ill tell you it was not easy going from cookie cutter to 3d modeling work check my walls you can see my transition to 3ds. I havent touched bryce since.
