Here's something to think 'bout

Hi.
I am a Hindu and we believe in the cycle of life, that the soul is eternal and keeps getting sent to this world in different world until it attains Nirvana or oneness with its Creator.
I know not many people believe this, but if you did and if you were offered a choice, which form would you take up in the next life (other than human) and why?
Please specify the animal or bird or whatever (like a horse or a peacock instead of saying an animal or a bird)

ashu, you asked a question, be prepared for the answers. For a lot of peolpe, coming back as a horse is just as silly as coming back as a pop-cycle! (which would be my first choice, but I won't expand on it, I'll let you guys imagine)

That said, there is nothing wrog with this thread. There are much sillier questions asked on this board. I don't see it as a religious discussion, but as a philisophical one. Asked another way, the question could be "Which animal represents or symbolises the qualities that you value?"

My answer would be the dove.

I really didn't read Ashu's question as being a religious one, he just used his religion to set up the question. To me, it is kind of like that Barbara Walters question "If you were a tree, which would you be."

I would like the experience of being an eagle, to fly and soar about in the sky would be wonderful.

Spent years flying around in the 5 to 10,000 ft altitude range, getting an "eagle eye view" of the world. The world looks very peaceful and organized viewed from above. it's hard to maintain that frame of reference in your mind when you're bumping into life at ground level.

I kinda like this answer!!! An eagle. Love the thought, free, unbounded, king of the skies...

Whether this thread is a discussion about religion, reincarnation or a philisophical question I welcome it with open arms. If you agree or disagree with a topic there is usally something to be learned. How can one know their hand completely if they only look at the top of it?

But personally, being a Christian I really have never thought about coming back in a different life form. But since the topic was brought up what if you thought even larger. If there is other life form in the universe you could possibly come back as a completely different life form on a planet far far away. Now that puts a different twist on the subject.

I'm definitely coming back as a laywer.

I have a little prayer I say every nite before bed that begins like this - God, in all your forms and in all your names known by all in all your Universes by one way or another....

My coming back as a spoon comment was more of a dig at WOM and PG, than anything else (lighten up guys) .......... but it does occur to me that if I don't retain my human intelligence, and my memories of this life, if won't make much difference to me what animal I am next.
That said, I will choose the Wolf.

Koasati: Good choice

Jafo: I know you're racing today, but...interesting challenge...thinking in a larger context...

Being integrated into Gaia would be intriguing. (boy the word 'integrating' just doesn't work in that context...hmmmm) Joining?

I always believed in the "old soul" theory. That your soul doesn't go anywhere, it just ends up in somebody/something else. That is why some people have amazing talents that they are born with - they have a very old soul. Ever meet somebody who is "wise beyond their years"? old soul. Now, before anyone starts bashing me, I am not religious in any formal sense. That is not to say that I am against religion, an atheist, or any of that, I just have my own beliefs which don't follow any organized religion. It's a bit of a melting pot of a bunch of beliefs.

So, to answer the question:

" In my next life...
I wanna be a female bear...

If you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that.

Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that, too.

If you're a bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that.

If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them, too. I could deal with that.

If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.

Yup ... I wanna be a bear."

I've always wanted to fly, so I'd like to come back as an eagle, soaring high on the wind currents...

Eagles aren't evil creatures, they only kill for food and to feed their brood.
