Been there done that !!!! A lot of really good folks died to allow us this privilege. Honor them. This political season has really been horrible with the attack ads and all the other mudslinging. Don't let that deter you. Make an informed choice...or not. Do it with your eyes closed, flip a coin, whatever. Just get out there and do it!

Bangboy, you got that right mostly

wolfie, Where I am there are some of the best political ads (radio) that I have ever heard. Too bad that's not true everywhere.

jobeleca: I have not seen nor heard one single positive ad this season. It really has been bad bad bad. Texas politics is usually hard to take, but this time was the pits.

That stinks, I've only heard 5 negative ads all together this time around. And 4 of them were attacking the Teamsters in a union election.

What's sad is that the local newspaper has ignored the local campaigns and has only covered the race for US Senate.

What's also sad is that candidates have avoided issues and have refused debates or anything, and that only a couple opinion columns have called them on it.

It's really gotten to be a mess. Apathy abounds, but I think that is being caused by the politicians not giving the voters what they want. Your last 2 posts are perfect examples of this.

There's only a handful I'm going to be voting for or against, for the rest I simply have a list of incumbants and will vote against them.

My phone has been ringing consistantly this morning....*ALL* have been pre-recorded messages from politicos. One of them said something like...'You might have received calls from people who represent themselves as my supporters...They are not. Ignore these calls and vote for me..." You get the idea. Negative phone political ads. There's got to be a law! >

What I don't get is that the same campaign office called me 5 times yesterday. You'd think they'd keep track of who they have and haven't called.

My solution to the phone ringing all the time, one phone line, a modem, and stay online

I haven't sworn off voting, but I have determined never to pick the lesser of two evils, (i.e vote for evil).

If I genuinely want someone to be in office I will vote for them, but this time around I wouldn't want to be responsible for the success of any of the people I have to choose from...

Well, I have some bad news and some great news

The bad news is that over half of the races were uncontested.

The great news is that even though it's pouring down rain they have not only had more votes already than they have in the past decade, but it's only 1pm and they've had over twice the number of normal votes! Keep in mind it is pouring here.

I agree with baker in spirit. But today i got one choice of "distinctly evil" versus "moderately stupid but well meaning", and reluctantly voted for the later. Maybe he'll be smart enough to surround himself with intelligent, capable people ( nice dream anyway).

jobe: I've heard that voting participation is very high here as well...It's a good thing!

I just voted!

For anybody wondering, I voted that I *do* have Quicktime installed on my system.

Well, we didn't have to worry about hanging chad here. We simply draw on a ballot with felt tipped markers which are read by humans and inputted into tabulating machines.

Geez, more efficient voting methods were around in the 20's.

They're supposed to be read directly by the machines, but they didn't make the budget.

So I suppose these polititions you vote for and win go to DC to represent the people that elected them to office?Or do they represnt the lobby groups and business fat cats who gave them the money to run all those ads. Most of these people have never worked a day in their life. You want me to participate in the biggest scam of them all?I'd rather play basketball. You can vote till yer blue in the face and nothing will ever change.Did anything change when California passed the Herb law? No.Even though the citizens of that state voted and passed the bill the Feds shot it down and threatened to jail doctors and take their licenses if they even discussed it.65% of the people in jail in America are non-violent offenders.2 to 5 for rape or murder,,,10 to 20 for weed.Yeah, voting is great.

What kind of gig do they use in Amsterdam? And no I would not be alive today had I been living under one of those types of government.I am used to being presented with this argument,,it's either twisted, corrupt, warped, bribed democrocy or hard line fascism.I reject both.
