Oh, my! Is that your desktop? It looks more life a folder! What OS are you running?

Do you have a system restore?

isn't the desktop a folder? Looks as though you've got the folder menus from explorer showing up on your desktop, or something...I don't use XP though

no i just have massive amounts of desktop icons soo i make category folders to put them in ... i cant skin anything or move icons around thats y my desktop looks like crap!!!! i dont kno how to remove that shit! >

That bar on the left is the XP style explorer bar that appears in folders. Why it's on your DT is a mystery to me.
Have you unloaded WindowBlinds?

I noticed that you are running DesktopX. Did you set anything funny in it? What happens if you unload it? You may also want to email your problems to [email protected] since this really isn't the place to receive support on the products.

nooo it all happened when i loaded a skin for windowsblind cause it doesnt do it on startup for some reason soo every time i reboot i reapply it and for some reason it added that bar to the left side i try unloading WB and uninstalling and tryed installing a dekstopx scheme thinking it would change it but didnt work.

what skin was it?

Try this. With WindowBlinds and DesktopX off go to display properties> Desktop> Cusotmize Desktop...> Web. Do you have any web enabled stuff? Some folders are not normal and I was thinking that somehow it might be viewed as your desktop. Do you have "lock desktop items" checked? What happens if you change the desktop background?

ARGGHH!!! NOTHINGS WORKING!! theres nothing unde web under the customize desktop thing.... ive triedd sooo many thingsss man it really bugs me i can move icons around or drag them anywhere.!!
Um... when you made that folder, did you drag things like you desktop, any system folders, stuff like that into the folder and not a copy or a shortcut? If you did, could you go to that folder and drag them back out? Um, maybe this is a dumb suggestion, but it sure sounds like something I might have done once.

Don't get angry with people trying to help or you may find yourself help_less. It's not our fault, that we've never seen anything like your problem, and this is not a support forum..............just folks trying to find a clue. OK?

You've yet to tell us what skin you loaded when this happened.

If you right click on the desktop do you get the regular list of things?
Arrange Icons by >
Refresh
Paste
Paste Shortcut
New >
Properties

Sorry if I mis read you up there.

Does the bar remain if you change WB skins?

have you tried going to the folder options and disabling the bar there, then re enabling it? (it may require a reboot, or at least to refresh the desktop)

or as an alternative, go to folder options and check the "show hidden files and folders" option, and look for a file on your desktop called "desktop.ini" and rename it to desktop0.ini and refresh the desktop (press F5) or if that does nothing, reboot.

hope this helps, but i have no way or checking because this has never happened to me before (like most people in here).

Dunno if this would work .. but try it anyways : open windows explorer>folder options>use classic folders !!
the bar does reamain after changing WB skin i tried the desktop.ini file thing but nothing worked i tried the classic folders thing and that didnt work either... its seems like that bar aint part of the desktop... like its seperate or something... THIS IS REALLY STRANGE! BUT I STILL NEED HELP BADLY

have u tried booting into safe mode? some things are stupid and need to be told "you're not supposed to be there" and sometimes, safe mode does that. don't even change anything, just boot into it then reboot normally.

not very high-tech help, but it has worked before (but i didn't quite have the same problem).

Well, you could try an experiment. You could try to drag the system files out of the folder. You can always put them back later if you want. I think there are better ways of doing what you want to do, though. I never have a single icon on my desktop.
