Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Doreen - kitty kat you can't tickle fuzzy w/ something fuzzy it won't work...

so then, by that logic i cannot tickle someone wearing a fuzzy jumper.

interesting challenge, just so long as there arent to many sparks.

/me wonders if JavaBrain has a shaggy wooly jumper

there is probably a fancy name for them, but i dont know what it is off hand.

as for fuzzy logic, 4 paws worth of claws should provide a good starting point

Feline, I know you. You just want me to wear something warm and fuzzy so that you can curl up in my lap and sleep......
hmmm... that sentence sounded OK in my head, but just doesn't sound right once said....oh,well. as long as my hubby doesn't read this....

what can i say? i am just a cat at heart

i see a nice person, and i just cannot help wondering if they would make a good cat bed, especially if they are known to drop bits of chocolate down their fronts, obviously for the sole purpose of feeding cats

as for your sentance, it looks fine to me.

hubby, now thats an idea. JavaBrain can provide the soft warm and cuddly cat bed (got to love those jumpers) and hubby can scratch me behind the ears with one hand. a puuurfect excuse for quiet time with you two cuddled up together on the sofa.

/me can be just *SO* selfless at times

Cats can eat chocolate? I know it is poison for doggies....wouldn't let our puppy near that.

I've been offline since Mon night. The storms we've been having here appear to have borked my pc. Or maybe its an excess of static from tickling? Whatever, this is my work pc so I cant stop too long...

If its tickling, someone is in trouble... >

trouble? no no, we are all enjoying ourselves. the screams are screams of happyness, honest

as for your PC, have you got a surge protector? a good idea to get one if not.

juni - Cats can eat chocolate? I know it is poison for doggies....wouldn't let our puppy near that.

/me isnt an average cat

actually this sounds like a very good reason to make sure that there isnt any spare chocolate left lying around where it might be found.

perhaps i should be in charge of keeping it all safe and secure

Good morning Doreen!

Feline, maybe you can help me find my missing Hampster. Fluffy the hampster chewed out of her cage yesterday morning. We have searched all over for her, and she is nowhere to be found. *Sigh* I think that she might just be gone. My dogs were no help finding her, either.

ah, our hampsters also used to do this quite often.

the normal places are behind the bookcase and the unit the TV sits on. basically anything to large and heavy to easily move

how tame is the hamster?

when ours used to do this, they would often wander out late in the evening to see what was going on when they heard people's voices.

the best first plan is to place several small files of foods she really likes around in corners of the room to tempt the hampster. pieces of apple, banana and pear, along with some sunflower seads should do well.

She is pretty tame, but I have this awful feeling that she got outside.

I have placed food around, but none of it has been eaten. We sat up last night hoping that she would come out looking for food and water, but she didn't. The doors are open a lot to let our dogs in and out, and I think that she may have went out with the dogs. We didn't notice that she was gone until we let the dogs outside. (She's usually sleeping by that time, so it wasn't odd that she wasn't making noise.) My daughter is really bummed about it all. Maybe she'll show up tonight, but I somehow doubt it.

/me *sad*

there is some hope that hampster will yet return. although they are very inquisative, they also tend to return to bed, since that is where they keep their food store.

also hampsters are quite resilient in their way. falls arent a problem, they can go without food or water for a while, and can hide in small holes.

so there is still hope.

/me *HUGS* JavaBrain
hope this works out ok

I'm back! The pc is ok, but XP was fried... >
I've re-installed XP, but now everything else has to go back on...grrrrr. No telly for me tonight.

/me hopes Fluffy returns soon.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. People make fun of me because I get really attached to my pets. I had a pet Iguana. When she died I almost had to take the day off from work. I have gotten upset when my fish get sick. So, having Fluffy escape just isn't any fun. I hope I find her. If not, I hope that she got outside where there is food and water (we feed the birds and have a garden and such). I woke up a couple times last night because there was no "Fluffy running in the squeeky wheel" noise. I'm odd that way. I wake up when it gets quiet. When the power goes off, the quiet house wakes me up. I think that is "mommy" hearing capabilities, though

I FOUND FLUFFY!!!!

I have an in-law suite (more like a condo attached to the house) that my parents live in. Seems like Fluffy found herself a nice little corner between a dresser and the wall to make a home in. She was stock piling pieces of dog food. She was found at about midnight (not to my mother's delight) as she was frolicking in their bedroom. She really didn't want to get caught, and we had to chase her all over the room, but we finally got her! Yay! My daughter is pretty happy now!

Pleased to hear Fluffy is OK.

fluffy is back!!!

perhaps a more secure cage in future?
Yes, she is now in a different cage. I bought her a three story hamster Condo. It is made of wire, and has two ladders (to get to the different floors) an exterior water bottle, a plastic wheel (which I'm sure will be chewed up before the end of the week) and a cute little house for her to hide in. She seems to like it. Hopefully she won't get out of this one!

does it have a hinged lid somewhere?

our hampsters used to have wire cages with holes in the roof about big enough to get your hand through. this was hinged at one end, and held close with a spring on the hinge.

quite safe we thought, since the roof is well out of the reach of the hampster.

however, what hammy used to do was climb up one side of the cage, and then walk across the roof. this was done by hanging on with her teeth and front paws, with the rest of her hanging straight down.

once on the roof she would work across to where the door was, and push at it. by pushing at the end farthest from the spring she was quite capable of opening it enough to climb out onto the top of the cage.

it was ages before we discovered this was how hammy was getting out.

sometimes while cleaning out her cage we would place her in a square bin with some food. this was smooth plastic with right angled corners. she was quite capable of climbing out of this, by getting into the corner and pushing off the two sides. we wouldnt have thought it was possible until we saw it

never underestimate a hampsters ability to get out and about

Doreen, as for toilet training, have you tried those small bonio dog biscuits? they are about the same length as an average hampster. ours used to love them. however whenever we gave them a new one, they used to prop it up in one corner of the cage and then pee all over it.

thought two: if hammy is prone to making a mess only when you get her out of her cage to handle her, then she is probably just very frightened. one of my hampsters was like that, he used to produce an amazing amount off poo when ever i got him out. however, with regular (daily) exposure, and me being very kind and gentle with hammy he got used to me, and the problem went away.
