*sigh*
well, i just discovered something *interesting* today
a couple of weeks ago the Quality Assurance manager quit, and her replacement started.
on the project i am working on, i have been trying to find out what is going to be done about sorting out the data before we use the new software. we need new settings, based on the data the users have set up.
naturally enough, different users will have different data setup's.
so, i have been raising this point reguarly in meeting for about 3 months now, before i finally gave up raising it, since no one wanted to listen to my points.
well, the project is supposed to have started beta testing on the 30th of June 2003 (and today it is 8th July 2003). so, there has been a lot of running around and panicing on the part of the new QA, and thus me, since i am the main programmer on this project.
well, it seems that there is a problem with the data the users have!!! /me *gasp of shock*
so, i have spent the last 2 days doing nothing but try and sort out this data mess, and we are still no where near ready, or sorted.
for some strange reason (no one would think about this) there is no plan for sorting this out, so we are working it out as we go.
well, today i discovered:
* when our old QA manager briefed the new QA manager, she told her not to listen to me
* the main reason nothing was done about this data problem was that i am the one who raised the point, and no one else really beleived it was a problem
lets give an example:
on one of the beta sites there are:
* over 400 departments to map
* over 200 consultants to set up
now, i am not qualified to do this data setup on the users data, since it is the users live data that needs setting up.
so, we are in deep trouble, because the last QA manager decided nothing i said was worth listening to. i mean, i was the main programmer on the project, so i knew what was going on, so of course they decided to ignore everything i was saying, and all the warnings i tried to issue.
for some reason (i wonder if it might be related to this mess) i am feeling really quite depressed right now.
