1 week ago my hard disk in my home computer died

today i finally got a new hard disk up and running, and have spent the day building up my machine from a blank slate.

first OB wouldnt work
then i cannot get my sound card to work in either win98 or winXP, no matter what i do *sob*

right about now, it all just feels to much

MadIce, i think i may be a little out of my depth with regard to DX plugins

i have loaded the sample plugin DXTrash into MS Visual Studio .NET, and compiled it.

while some of what it is doing doesnt make any sense, some of it seems sensible enough. so, i wanted to compile it so i could start playing around.

when i compile it, it doesnt actually make any dll's. instead it seems to have made "DXTrash.lib" and "DXTrash.exp"

not exactly the effect i was expecting

any wise advice on where to go from here?

Open the properties dialog of that project and in the Configuration Properties make sure to set Configuration Type to Dynamic Library (.dll)

And use the __stdcall calling convention. You should make a DEF file for the exports.

i found the configuration type, and that is set to ".dll"

"all" i did was to open the "DXTrash.dsw" file in the example project, let visual studio convert it, and try to compile it.

so far i cannot find anything in the project configuration about calling conventions. there is already a DEF file, so was hoping it was ok by default *shrug*

i did read the code, and it seems to have a timer, and an update message. that is all i really want in my plugin, so this looked like an ideal template to work from.
