I went back and read the whole thing last month. It took a looooooong time

Folder Options > File types and change the 'open with' for HTML to word? Might work.

I've read the whole thing since day one. Didn't post anything for quite a while though because I thought I might be intruding on something private. I guess a lot of people feel like that when they look at this thread.

Back home, dentists don't believe in knocking people out and cutting the teeth out. They always do it one by one. Pull one out, wait till the wound heals, then do it again. That way, it ensures that the muscles in the jaw has time to correct itself and vice versa.

You know what's pissing me off? I'm a moderator for a community (Endeffect), and that board is going to hell. A bunch of children are being assholes, and people are turning to me calling for help. I told the board I'll talk about the entire thing with the admin...

So I took the time to come up with a few rules so the admin wouldn't have to do too much work. It's been over a goddamn week, he not only hasn't answered that one single email, he told me he'll answer it within one or two days. That was last sunday. It's Friday, I had sent the original email last tuesday.

I'm so annoyed. I'm being pushed to do something about the crap at a community, and I don't have the power to do so. The only person who does doesn't care... What the hell am I suppose to do?!?

Well, Elf, I have taken refuge here. At first I thought the other board would sort itself out. Some things take time; some people are too burned out and depressed to take action. But then, this is becoming more and more my home. Lately, all I do is censor, delete, and ban.

I have to agree, goodmorphing, but the moderator list for that board is starting to drop. The number of good moderators are decreasing, and the admin is never there.

This is why I love Wincustomize so much. The admins are always within reach, our wizops and moderators are often around if anything happens. I know them all and talk to them frequently. It's just a much more caring community and no childish crap break out every five minutes.

I'll just ignore the little fact that I'm spoiled by everyone here at wincustomize

For me, I can relax here and just be myself. Some people there seemed to feel threatened by intelligence... though I'm surely not the brightest bulb anywhere. I used to post a lot of stuff... and the next post would be I'm not bright enough to understand that, or talented enough to do that....

under winXP pro (and presumably home) if you install the microsoft winXP Tweak UI powertoy, this lets you set this.
Internet Explorer -> View Source -> "Change Program" button

however, why do you want to use word? surely you should be using gvim? *innocent grin*

oh all right, perhaps not. it does take a little bit of getting used to

if you get stuck, let me know. i know a web site with the reg key to set, since that is the standard way of setting gvim to be the default editor on win9x, win2k.

JavaBean - I doubt that anyone here will ever need to know this, but if you ever get a warning from an admin, please pay attention to it. If you don't follow the warning, you will probably be exiled.

a sensible warning. it is just sad that these thinks need to happen at all.
