Here we go again!!! I'm just about to restore XP from back up, sigh. It blue screened earlier tonight so I reset. On starting it ran scandisk (like it does) and it found something wrong with some Norton files. Fixed 'em, like it does, so now when I run live update it tells me my pc has no products to update. Cheers Bill...

So, I'll be back tomorrow when my restore is complete.

really sorry about your pc crashing. Yuck. Been there, oh yada, yada, yada. It sucks. However, I had some really horrible problems with Norton and Win2K which sound just like what you have. Same sequence of events even the problems with Norton files. I redid my hard drive, but left Norton off and I haven't had that problem since then. Just something to consider.

/me thinks to point out to KarmaGirl that another interesting consideration here is that as yours gets smaller and smaller, certain others get larger and larger as they stand and watch. An interesting balance-of-power shift starts to happen....

OK....OK... I am not going to keep thinking about this amazing information and keep wondering, because I am getting certain suspicions. Just this week our wise upper courts came out with a ruling that "the area underneath a woman's skirt is considered to be public if she is in public" (ie the fellow in court for using a video cam with various short skirted women in shopping malls without their permission is well within his rights). /me is highly suspicious that these fellows are either one-and-the-same, schoolmates, fellow conspiritors... or something!

Fuzzy...In my experience women+exercise=sweaty armpits /me OK, I have to admit I don't know who's armpits are the trouble here? These things only really happen to give us reasons for the showers...

Back in action. I never have problems with Norton stuff. It's just on this occasion XP decided it was those files it wanted to ****up. One thing I do know about Norton AV is never to use System Restore - that breaks it into tiny unrecoverable pieces to the point where even a re-install doesn't work.

This is why I use Powerquest Drive Image 2002 (advert). I have several images of my system on various drives (in case of drive crash) which can be restored in less than an hour. There you go... Yesterday XP broke, today XP fixed. All I have to do is run updates (Norton LiveUpdate downloading 3.8Mb as I type this...).

/me is content now...
