Odd Wallpaper Behavior Problem

Running XP Pro and WB 4.40.036. Straight, sharp edges in some wallpaper images (for example, Cutting Edge), appear jagged when Show Desktop Icons is selected in XP. With this option deselected, the image appears correctly. Never saw this problem referenced anywhere and I'm out of ideas. Using an ATI RADEON 9800 Pro, 128MB RAM, Stock Catalyst drivers, 2.6 GHz P4, 1GB system RAM, 19" trinitron monitor @ 75 hertz, 1024x768 resolution and 32bpp color.

yeah . . . I had that problem too . . . are you (or have you ever used) DesktopX? It's when I first loaded DesktopX that the problem happened. There are a couple of options that you could do (because I never got the problem actually fixed).
1. You could use IconX to spruce up your desktop with those icons.
2. You could go into the settings of DesktopX and tell it to hide the icons.
3. If you use Sysmetrix, you could have it hide the icons.

There has to be more to it than running DX. I use DX from time to time, and I've never seen this problem.

Mine does that when I activate "lock web items on desktop"

As a test, try refreshing your desktop the next time it happens (click on the desktop and hit F5).
I've noticed XP sometimes 'shifts' the wallpaper around for various reasons. I think it may be associated with having the wallpaper set to 'stretch'
