Curious about Mod'ing 'The-Recruit' Winblind - Help!

Just recently downloaded 'The Recruit' skin and I'm curious to a couple of things. The 'Action bar' (for lack of knowing what it's actually called) on the right hand side of the desktop has 4 folder icons, a system folder and 3 others that just have a website link in them. Can I actually dictate what goes into these 'folders', and how?

Second, the button on that bar for email - How can I change it from lame outlook express to my default email, thunderbird?

Now, if this is easily done then forgive me for I'm but an ignorant fool. I'm completely new to winblinds/skins and basically all forms of desktop modification. I am, however, not unfamiliar with computers in general so I comprehend fairly quickly. Any assistence or link to a common faq that I've conveniently overlooked that would solve my question, I would be eternally grateful. I do love the look of the skin/style/theme (whatever the hell it's called) but would love to make use of some of the functionality it's apparently supposed to have.

Where might one find this "recruit" windowblind? I think you meant some other type of skin.

Er, well.. I downloaded it from http://video.movies.go.com/recruit/ however it's more well known as the 'Thebz' or something or another, from my experience. It can also be found on this website. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=the+recruit&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=0

You can normally right click a object in DesktopX and choose properties(or object properties), and modify the links or shortcuts. There are many tabs so you'll just have to find the link and shortcut stuff. You may also need to be in edit mode by right clicking the taskbar icon to even see the properties options. Good Luck.

Again, forgive my ignorance (any my type-o's), is there a program I need to load up to be able to edit these things? The program that came with the theme/suite is Stardock's Desktop Objects. There are no properties in there that would allow me to modify anything other then what theme/suite I want to use.

And clicking around on the actual object (the bar thingy on the right hand of the desktop that has the buttons and folders and what not) does nothing. I can't seem to interact with it in any way other then to open the folder or activate the buttons.

Do I need a full version of a certain program perhaps, that would allow me to find tune it?

Right, but I can't seem to find any icon in my task bar that will allow me to go into any edit mode that has any effect on my problem. I even went so far as to purchase the SkinStudio in hopes of it allowing me to edit these things, all it does is allow me to change the look of buttons, bars, and what not. It doesn’t give me access to the imbedded folder/button bar on the right hand of the desktop, that I wish to change the content of.

My problem may be downloading this entire package from the-recruit website (I didn't even like the movie). It come with "Winstyles Desktop Manager" and a single theme file that it installs. It's nice, but not if I can't get it to work the way I want to work. Two of the custom folders on the bar are empty, save for some link to Disney or Stardock. Rather pointless.

I've searched Faq's, I've searched google, shelled out money for a program that's useless to me, and overall basically spent way too much time on this. I'm sure it's probably something simple but for the life of me, I can't seem to grasp it.

At any rate, I appreciate the time you've put into my little quandary but alas, I have been defeated. I'll choose a skin that isn't quite so nice just so I won't have this arbitrary feature that does nothing for me looming over my head to flaunt the fact that a simple little bar with buttons has defeated me.

If you don't see a DesktopX icon in your taskbar, try clicking the DesktopX icon in your start menu. This will take you to the tabbed configuration menu for DeskTopX. Go to the default tab and take the checkmark out of, "No tray icon". Hopefully, you can see the tray icon now.
