Problem Installing Bootskin

I have a problem installing bootskins that come as a zip file that contains two bitmaps and a .ini file. I read that you had to doubleclick the file when the stardock bootskin program is installed but that doesn't work. hope someone can help me.

If the file is a .zip file , you need to rename it... example myboot.zip, should be renamed myboot.bootskin then you can double-click to install.

Can you explain what you mean by "it's still a zip file" after you rename the file?

I renamed and then I go to properties and it's called myboot.bootskin but it says WinZip File and the program doesn't recognize it as a Bootskin file.

Go into 'Folder Options' and un-check "Hide known extensions". Now rename it with the Bootskin Extension.

And you've tried Open With, and that didn't work. ....... have you tried reinstalling the BootSkin program?
