I believe that your problem of lag is related to the errors that most skins will generate in skin studio. I believe that I am the only skinner that fixes these errors before they release a skin. Most people tell me that my skins are really fast. I believe this is the reason. The Alienware skin generates 75 errors when analyzed in SkinStudio. If you fix them, it might help.

Hey ChasUGC, that must be the most imortant information posted here in a long time. I tried it out with a few well known blinds, and that speeded up things a LOT! Thanks!

Open SkinStudio, then Tools > WindowBlinds > Open Current Skin, then Tools > Correct Skin Errors. Click the Apply button and save.

Do you have an antivirus enabled? If so exclude the WB folder and subfolders. AV's can be a bit overzealous in checking files sometimes. Other
than that do other skins lag or is it just with that one? Also are you referring to the WB skin causing it or the whole suite? If so what is included in the suite other than the WB skin?

what does wb stand for.. and i think its the wole suite.. The AlienGUIse theme manager when i click apply for the alien ware themes.. and how do i stop anti virus from checking it .. is that why? and my anti virus is norton

Hulk is a great skin, don't misunderstand me. But, it has 39 errors identified by SkinStudio in it.

What did you do? Did you save, afterwards and reapply the skin?

If you did this and it didn't solve the problem, I need to ask a question. Do you have this problem on all the skins or just AlienGuise? Because, AlienGUIse is not a skin. You need to specify the name of the skin you are having trouble with, or which program you are having trouble with.

It sounds to me like your problem is with theme manager.

Yea i did save the skin and re applyed it with AlienGUIse theme manager.. i then did classic skin.. and opened windows blinds and icon packager and applyed another skin.. and it still lagged..

so basically i dont know whats going on..

wanna talk online or email? cause i really want to fix this thx for replying.. everybody to... [email protected] feel free to help me anyone...

well sorry i didnt mention the skin name.. its AlienMorph and ALXMorph.. but then they are both laggy and the rest if the skins are to..

uh oh i think the lag is from.. i checked the connections on my comouter.. and i saw like 10 connections.. i took out the skin from being applyed and i checked the connections and there was 3 connections as normal.. you think the version of alienguise theme manager i got from limewire has been tampered with?
Hmm, 10 connections? Where do you see these connections? And, what are the names of them? Are they spyware connections? Did you check your system and the limewire file for viruses(before you opened it) and scan your system for spyware recently? It sounds like something may have been packaged in the Limewire file. Could be a trojan(virus), or spyware.

and the rest if the skins are to..

If the lag on all your skins started after you applied the Alienware theme, then the Alienware theme is NOT the cause. Otherwise, if you changed to another skin, the lag would go away. It sounds like you got something else in the Limewire download that is chewing up your system resources. Most likely it is a trojan or spyware.

oh so you are saying that my version of AlienGUIse Theme Manager that i got from limewire could be bad?.. well because the file size is the same as its suppose to be.. and i scanned my computer with norton antivirus 2004.. and checked for spyware also and i saw nothing.. but it could be a un detectable trojan of some sort.. so maybe you can hook me up with a good copy of AlienGUIse?

Good job it wasn't me that did the Sks work on that one then.

totle, it sounds to me like you have some other problem that has nothing to do with the AlienGUIse theme. Check your msconfig. I believe you may find something there that is lagging your system. It could be anything. I have heard people claim that they had no spyware. But, then they scanned their system and found tons of it. Try different Spyware scanners. Spy Bot didn't find most of my spyware for some reason. Some spyware even has the ability to disable the program. You might try uninstalling the spyware program. Reboot and erase the directory and reinstall it. It actually took me three different spyware scanners to find all the junk deposited on my computer.

It could also be bad drivers. If you are running multiple firewalls or virus scanners, that would also cause such a problem. I would try disabling all your unneeded programs in msconfig. Then, if your lag stops, you can track down the culprit that way.

I ran Spybot and it found no spyware. So, I installed Adaware and it found five spyware files. Then, I installed Spyware Doctor and it found fifteen spyware files. I'm pretty sure that my Spybot was disabled by a spyware program after I downloaded a EZ theme. I hear that ThemeXP files have loads of spyware too.

You may also bring up your task manager and check your CPU usage and available Physical Memory in the performance tab. It could also be a problem with your performance settings. If you install WMD drivers on top of your VDD drivers that could cause a problem. This could happen if you have automatic updates checked in your system settings. Or if you updated your video drivers before removing the old drivers. Most new drivers are using WMD drivers, and the installed drivers are normally VDD drivers. The list goes on and on.

If you really want to solve the problem, I would wipe the hard drive and start over. Then, you can track down exactly when the lag starts. This is the best troubleshooting solution. This way you start with a completely clean and lag free system. I do not believe that the problem is Theme Manager or Windowblinds causing your problem. But, you can uninstall THeme Manager and see if the problem goes away. The problem may also be conflicting programs. Like I said, the list goes on and on.

i have a website.. maybe you can upload ALienGUIse theme manager on my website and i can download from there?

That would be a seriously bad idea. That is what is considered 'ripping' aka stealing copyrighted material
Only use authorized/original download links!!

so now i am using style xp now

This might be the real problem, right here. StyleXP hacks the system files, and having that program running and then trying to apply another GUI Program is probably whats causing the terrible lag. You might try disabling StyleXP from the system completely, before using a windowblind. This is what we are talking about, right? Some people say that they can have both installed, but some people have problems. Hacking system files the way that StyleXP does, and then running a program that expects the kernel to be in its original state, could cause lots of problems.

You can copy the AlienMorph theme and the ALXMorph theme from the theme manager directory. Then, uninstall Theme Manager. You don't need theme manager to apply the theme really. But, you can download Theme Manager from Stardock and then reload your theme manager alienware themes.

You can get Theme Manager here(Official Stardock Link) https://www.stardock.com/products/thememanager/

well what if i close the style xp program and its not on the system tray?.. does that still make it bad or should i just uninstall the whole program
