WinXp SP2+WindowBlinds No taskbar skin

So I just installed WinXP SP2 (Full IT version from Microsoft, not Beta) and WindowBlinds refuses to skin the taskbareverything else just fine. Standard windows classic and windows XP (blue/green bar) both work. But WB just will not skin the taskbar, only change the color of it. The update worked fine on my laptop (WinXP Home) and WB works just fine, but not on my desktop (WinXP Pro). Any ideas or has this happened to someone else in the past for some other reason. I tried uninstall and re-install, but to no avail. I would appreciate any ideas.

Just a shot in the dark, but........ check Basic Settings in WB Config, maybe Taskbar skinning was somehow turned off.

Nope, all settings are correct and the same as my laptop. Thanks anyway. Maybe there's some sort of weird registry entry that's hanging around disabling it.

err... try unloading windowblinds completely, then reloading it up

..tried that to, multiple times actually. I even tried uninstalling, clearing any reference to WB from the registry, and reinstalling into a directory different from the default. Thanks anyway.

Make sure you have WB installed before you update to Sp2. Apparently thats causing some problems once in awhile.

WB was installed prior to updating to SP2. Just after rebooting after installing SP2 the taskbar wasn't skinned it just was a different color (corresponding to the particular skin), everything else was: titlebars, buttons, etc. It's really strange . Like I said in #1, I did the exact same update with my laptop and it worked perfectly. Thanks though.

That is an odd thing, something else must be causing it. I have had both RC's of SP2 along with the final, and the only problem I had was on RC1 with toolbar icons, and that has been fixed.

I would do as other suggested, remove windowblinds and reinstall.

Are you running an AMD64? I know there are some issues with AMD64's and you can correct it by modifying your boot.ini file.

I think, T1Pimp, you are on the right track. I believe the problem might be in the DEP/NX addition to SP2, or the Physical Address Extension change. Maybe eventually someone might run into this same problem.

Yep, just looked at StarDock's newsgroup, there are several issues with the new DEP/NX feature. Probably be resolved in a patch or next release of WB. Guess, like you said, one could modify boot.ini to /Execute.

SP2 seems more and more like a really bad idea to install. I guess I'll just wait for a while until things stabilize...

There will always be pros & cons witha a major upgrade like this one. For those interested, this link was posted in another thread here at WC and provides useful information about fixes and updates in SP2 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kben-us811113
