WB4 4.38d(b).002 Margin Errors in StartMenu

Some skin startmenus are not being drawn correctly anymor in the latest beta. These skins worked fine in the previous beta 4.38c(b).003 The top row is the newest Beta showing the error of the shifted More Programs Arrows and the bottom row is showing the same with the previous Beta.

Funny, I know all three skins pretty well. I have not updated wb yet but I can confirm that we all worked (or thought) we had worked out the alignment on all 3 skins. Very odd that they are all shifting differently. In the history notes of the wb update it says that some fonts may display differently than normal. My guess is it is the size of the font and quite possibly the font itself(different fonts take up different space)causing the problem. When I get a chance thats what I am gonna do, set all 3 skins with the exact same fonts to see what happens. It would require me to update and I am hesitant to right now. Things are working pretty smoothly right now.

Yeah I rolled back one version. I don't think an update should break existing skins I didn't get a response in the newsgroup so I emailed Stardock Support. Actually I haven't had much luck at all with the newsgroups in fixing problems. I've got three problems now with three different pieces of Stardock software and no resolve. This one and one concerning setting in SKS the font being used for the All Programs text with a normal size arrow and mouseover showing not working. I'd hesitate to update as well

I would suggest not changing the default font but rather putting the text in the more programs arrow graphic.

from the history file
There are also changes to the font management code in this build. Some items may appear in a different font than previous builds.

Boy that could use with a little clarification....is that like the little warning sticker on your mirror that says "objects are closer than they appear" (whatever it says)

This is the message that I am receiving currently.

"How dare you skinners try to skin something that is not yet skinnable, and probably never will be. We will fix you! You do not have permission to skin that area in the program until we give it to you. Therefore, we messed it up. Na,Na,Na. "

Hiya....here's the answer from Neil via the newsgroup....
This appears to be a skin bug.

The skin isn't setting the all programs area font and assumed it would always
be the same. Later WB builds correct this font as it was using the wrong font
when no font was set and this is why the problem has appeared.

Thanks for the info steve. I an guessing that the prob will be fixed in the next update.

If I understand Neil correctly, that was the fix so in order to get the startmenu to work correctly you have to add what you want the All Programs font to be (even though you don't see it on the screen), the ideal choice would be whatever "wrong font" WB was using before, so that the skin works for both older versions of WB as well as the latest beta. I've asked Neil what that "wrong font" was.

Here's what I could figure out on my own....

Open the skin in SKS and change the font for the More Programs Panel
Background to Arial 14 Normal Text Effect (works with Rust In Peace) if the
oversized arrow is still too far to the left, increase the font size to 16
(works with Gloss) What was fixed, I believe was the fact that this font
setting did not always work on all systems, when it was set (mine was one of
them) and it now works. Previously I could not find a skin that had this
font set that actually worked and now the all work for me. Also I have
updated to WB4 4.38e(b).002
