Why

My old OD subscription expires, 11/16/2011.

I just renewed today, the new expiration shows that the new expiration is 10/17/2012

Why? I think the one year renewal should be added to the old and the new renewal date should read one year from the Old date so it should read 11/16/2011 instead of what it reads now 10/17/2012. In theory I am being screwed out of a month of my old subscription.

Any lawyers around :)

A/V proggies do the same thing.

Actually, not all A/V companies are alike. Kaspersky is one of those exceptional companies and an exception to your generally acknowledged rule. You can add a new Activation Code to your current licensed copy of KAV, KIS and PURE and it clearly states that the new activation period will begin without interruption when the current license expires. Thus, you get the full period of time paid for. I have little doubt that if the OP contacts Stardock and explains the situation they will make sure he gets the full year. I have found Stardock to be very honest in such matters from past experience.

It's on the Stardock "MyAccount" page, next to the "Object Desktop Renewal (1 year) - Expires:"

This 'feature' has just recently been added to the Kaspersky 2012 versions, I believe. I took advantage of it about 3 weeks ago in my KIS 12.0.0.374 by entering in a new Activation code and it made the transition smoothly from my old expiring license to the new one as soon as the old one expired.
