Why Subscription

Why

My old OD subscription expires, 11/16/2011.

I just renewed today, the new expiration shows that the new expiration is 10/17/2012

Why? I think the one year renewal should be added to the old and the new renewal date should read one year from the Old date so it should read 11/16/2011 instead of what it reads now 10/17/2012. In theory I am being screwed out of a month of my old subscription.

Any lawyers around :)

This happened to me a few years ago. One day after my renewal I saw the change.

A/V proggies do the same thing.

Onus is on the subscriber to renew on or before the expiry date so as to continue the sub, so it's likely NOT a 'lawyer' issue at all...;)

you sure you don't mean 2012?

Yes the old Typo bugga boo, I corrected it. The funny part is my WinCustomize Subscription which I extended at same time added one year to the date the old one expired. Why didn't OD do this ? The previous time I renewed it added one year to the date the old one expired.

When I renewed mine just recently it did the same thing.  If it doesn't fix itself in a day or so (maybe a "cycling thing"?) then send Sales an email.

Why should there be any 'onus' on those who support SD & WC?  There's certainly no technical reason the sub could not be extended one year from the old expiration date as opposed to the renewal date.

The fact that A/V proggies do that is not an argument.  Certainly not a winning one.

I could not agree more they take your money then because I renewed a month early (which they should appreciate because of cash flow) they screw you out of a month. Extrapolate this over a 12 year period and they would have screwed you out of a year.

I don't think that it's working as intended, I don't think they're wanting the shorter period.  If it didn't re-calculate after a day send sales an email.

They're all trying to take a lesson from the ripoff artists of artists the cell phone companies.  Renew even 1 day early and all your prior minutes remaining are gone.  Venture out of country and get a $200k dollar phone bill (real too the price of 2000 text messages and a couple of movies)  And these companies wonder why customers are in near revolt. lol

Rewrite the commercial code to include the consumer as a party in contracts with real rights.  Oh wait there's no lobby representing the common person and no politicians willing to listen  I guess that will never happen

I think DaveRI is probably right, BDBF.  I don't think they've gone Google on us.  At least not yet.

Ya ur right Daiwa I should make that clear Frogboy and Stardock has always treated me right.  I recently renewed early to take advantage of some extra $ off and got a full year added to my expiration date which is now 12/6/2012.  I renewed a few days ago without a problem.

But to all you other Cell phone companies, AV software subscription sellers and all other corporate thieves - you can't have my money!!

Hi.

If your renewal date is wrong (on the store page, not on Impulse) let support know and we can fix it.

As crazy as it sounds, we like it when our customers are happy and want to give us more love ($$) so we can give them more love (apps).

This is the correct solution and for the correct reason. The renewal date should be from the later of the two dates. That is logical.

It makes no sense whatsoever to penalize a customer for wishing to support you.

Kaspersky is not well served by doing business that way. It is arrogant and therefore foolish.

Without inpulse where do you find your renewal date? I can find my dates I ordered things but not the dates they expire

It's on the Stardock "MyAccount" page, next to the "Object Desktop Renewal (1 year) - Expires:"

I sent and e-mail to support yesterday, no reply as of yet. I sent a follow up to Sales today will wait and see. I know at time SD is slow in responding to items posted or e-mailed.
