The top area shows the five latest skins submitted to the site, the most popular skins over the last 30 days and the last five skins recently updated. The next area shows the top five skins in each chosen category over the last 30 days. What could be fairer than that? I lilke it.

Tom, we're not all as talented as you are, and I do mean that with all sincerity. I think Jafo referred to the rest of us that are not so talented as bland skinners. being a bland skinner, sometimes one needs to shake the table a bit hoping that some additional scraps fall our way.

It looks nice and I understand the marketing approach to the change however, being that my blinds will probably never show up there, I'm disappointed.

Hey gmc2, it is not really a change, it is the return of a feature the past site layout had, it has just been done in a different manner than the way it use to be.

The simple fact is you will never have a system that pleases everyone.  The new skin feature is just an addition showing popular skins, but we also have the daily featured skin which are individually picked.

Seems we have yet another upgrade to the awesome WC site!!!  Yall keep sneaking these in on us!  Thanks for the awesomeness!!!

Geez, it would be nice to have the broken things fixed also. My filter settings have not worked for over two months and the "yesterdays" and "alltime" most popular are still backwards! The new changes are nice but getting things that are supposed to work fixed would certainly be more appreciated by moi.

Please provide a screenshot of the Wincustomize homepage that shows a tab for the Screenshot Gallery. I do not see it.

Wincustomize.com is a site for SKINS [and wallpapers, icons, etc.] and each Skin gallery is for usable, downloadable content....;)

As far as I can tell Screenshots are downloadable, they have their own gallery, and even though YOU might not think so, they are usable. Nonetheless, all of that is off point. Your explanation tells me what you think WC is used for, it contains no answer to my simple question, Can there be a tab for the screenshot gallery? If not why not.

Not so long ago, Screenshots were featured on the front page of Stardock, AND on the front page of  WC as a Screenshot of the Day.

winstar4 ... Screenshots have one specific function ----------->  to display a skinner's current or projected uploaded skin.  They [screenshots] are a visual display of a skin, a component of a skin, or a 'suite' of skins.

Displaying them is a preview process for the subsequent selection and/or downloading of the SKIN itself.  Screenshots [as downloadable] have no intrinsic function in exactly the same way a screen capture within a game only displays the game's graphics but is not itself actually PLAYABLE.

The screenshot 'gallery' is a tool provided for the skinners to upload/display such things as works-in-progress, possible faults/bugs they may seek others' help with, etc.

As an incidental it also provides a place for the general user [and skinners] to display 'arrangements'/combinations of others' and/or their own skins which may or may not appeal to others.

Screenshota are a means to an end, not an end in themselves....;)

Let me try this again. First of all, thanks for the explanation (Iguess). I have heard it ad-nauseam over the years. Maybe it will serve purpose for newbies though.

You STILL did not answer my question. Lets agree to disagree on what purpose screenshots serve. (as in they are an end themselves) Purpose and intent change (for some people).

Whatever explanation, purpose, or definition you want to give Screenshots, is it possible to get a tab on the WC home page for Screenshots? If not, why not? Please answer the question. Your explanations are beginning to appear condescending and patronizing.

Can it be, yes.  Will it be, most likely no.  

As Jafo already explained, we are focusing on actual skins that people can use.  Screenshots are great to show off and such, but they are still not a skin.

winstar4.... Wincustomize.com is a site for SKINS [which loosely includes icons and wallpapers under the definition of they ALL alter the computer's GUI and thus can be called 'skins'].

Screenshots are NOT skins.

They are intrinsically NON-FUNCTIONAL and are thus not skin gallery content.

My take on screenshots is that they are a tool ONLY for the use of the site's skinners, and thus at best ONLY may warrant publicity via 'screenshot of the day' or... more SPECIFICALLY the Monthly Desktop Screenshots forum thread - hence its very existence.

Particularly GOOD screenshots demonstrating Stardock software's abilities/qualities may also deserve specific recognition [publicity] via something like a screenshot-of-the-day/week/month but that's it.

I don't see much mileage at all with any capacity for them [screenshots] to be either 'rated' OR actually add to a 'download' count through being viewed.

Their ONLY value outside of being a skinner's tool is for a user to show others whose skins he's using....which really becomes utterly pointless when people upload 50 screenshots a day meaning at best they've actually used it/them for 30 minutes....hardly any value as an endorsement, is it?

In short...do I see a justification for a tab for screenshots?  No.

Will there ever be one?  Who can tell, but I won't be hanging out for it...;)

Screenshots are not insignificant to WC, but our focus is to provide skins to users.  We have a ton of galleries on WC, and limited space to feature them all.  So popular galleries are going to get highlighted before others.

My wish is that he did not feel or believe that way, but his message (implicitly and explicitly) comes through loud and clear to me.
