bootskin hangs my win2kpro!!

bootskin hangs my win2kpro!!

Hi there!
Yesterday I installed bootskin and downloaded half a dozen skins. I shut the system down.
Today, I started the system only to stare at a still bootskin that loads after traditional boot skin has been 1sec on. The system then hangs completely! It never even shows the "loading bar".
I am now accessing this board via an Apple iBook.
Can someone pls help and tell me at least how to uninstall bootskin? I can access the files if I boot up with another win2kpro install that doesn't connect to the net anymore that I left there, never had a problem before...
Oh, btw, it was beta1 I installed... can it be the .bootskin extension problem? But I must 1st unfreeze my machine. Any help would be dearly appreciated...
Thanks!

I was reading this thread to get caught up on it, while working in a chat on a nic problem....

1st he should boot up with LAST KNOW GOOD CONFIGURATION....

if that doesn't work

mmmm

he needs to boot into a command prompt and delete the bootskin files

if they are not there they can't be loaded so they can't cause a conflict...

then once he can boot into windows he can remove reference to it from

I'm still here - and how do I get into the command prompt? No, that I know, heck as I said I can enter the system via another [same partition] win2kpro that I never managed to delete [but will asap]!!!

What I don't know is where to find the bootskin to delete and where I can look for the default to replace it with... Bootskin must manage this in a particular way...

yrag, iplural, any hints?

Seemingly the win2kpro isn't letting me to install over the system so the a.m. must be the solution...

John...#24 was pretty much along the same lines...he should be able to bring up a command prompt. I guess it's a 'stay tuned' for now....thanks Bud.

yrag...

yeah I was going to mention deleting user and system and letting the registry be restored from back up on boot up... but...

then changed it on the fly after some consideration

When you boot into safe mode it gives you the options in #26...use the keyboard to get to options. If you can get to the command prompt delete the bootskin folder. Best remedy is to hit 'Last good Config.' He should be able to do that in 2K, shouldn't he John?

This should be the address of your bootskin folder...
C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin

if ur concern for not letting me swap the screens because of file formats, i.e., zip-renamed-2-bootskin, then I can reassure you I am accessing the whole thing via another quasi-functional win2kpro thus being able to locate the default quasi-functional-win2kpro boot screen and copy-replace it over the bootskin one... the thing is I don't know where and what to look for... will you shed some light, pls?
Btw I could enter a command prompt described as console mode in the repair process of win2k but again the problem is where to go and what to do.
Can you advise? Thanx a bunch

...if I understand your question...'cause some of it isn't in english , you can 1/ load the Last Good Config' or 2/ Delete C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin in command prompt...you do not need to replace anything....

LOGOS.SYS and LOGOW.SYS in a temporary folder. These files are located initially in your Windows folder. LOGOW.SYS is the one that reads "Please wait while...," and LOGOS.SYS is the one that reads "It is now safe to...,"

well we've got the nic to been seen and to make a wireless connection now, but the system locks up so there is a conflict we haven't tracked down yet

btw: it is a known issue with DELL Laptops and Cardbus Wireless NIC's and DELL refuses to admit it because they have a 3com you can buy from them that they do support and that works, seems a little fishy to me

Alright, I did the last configuration trick, it worked plus everything seems to be in order [and I can now sleep so that when I wake up I can work out the objectdock docklets eheh].

Sadly I won't be able to stare in awe at the Think Different boot screen again, that is until bootskin 1.0 final is out with 24bit color and all

Thank you all for this bit of Christmas time - actually wincustomize is Christmas the whole year [now for this bit and all the swet I deserve a free wincustomize registration ]

Anywayz, thanx for reaching out to help me!!!

And yrag, it's the most amazing desktop you've got there... wonderful paradise pic on the background... [envy]

Mary Xmas to you all!!
