ObjectDock BETA 2 (0.51) now available

https://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock
A new version of ObjectDock is now available. ObjectDock is a program that provides a taskbar and launchbar and does it with style by allowing for very interesting visual effects for mouse overs. It's inspired by the MacOS X dock.

New in this version is a new magnification option for mouse overs (not on by default, go to settings to change it) along with significantly faster performance, slightly less memory usage and several new display options.

The website is www.objectdock.com.

ObjectDock is freeware. Please feel free to post this news elsewhere.

There won't ever be a 9x version.

Ok, Brad... it's about darn time this came out! Very, very nice... not as nice as the real thing but great stuff nonetheless.

This update is so much faster than the last... now all it needs is an auto-hide option, docking to other screen borders and posibly a right-click context menu for the dock, but I don't immediately see a reason to implement one just yet.

None the less, this is the fastest dock I've used on my computer. Along with the smoothest animation (while I'm using a bunch of apps too)

P.S.
I feel sorry for all you Win9x/WinME users out there... I know just how you feel...

it's excellent, i gotta say

1 question though, can we add more icons and such? also, how can we add the system tray ?

Seems to be 'quicker'...still confused by a LS VWM....and I'd still like it to be fully transparent so that only the icons were visible....
The added new options have improved adaptability in just one new point-release...so a few more 'points' from now it'll be really something...

another question, where can we send bug reports? , i'm not trying to get any support, but just trying to report bugs and be helpful to this freeware

one of the bugs i found

winamp3 causes objectdock to crash, when maximizing and minizing it, it causes objectdock to crash.

Teikoshen....you 'have' reported it.
The developers will be reading these comments...

Getting better and better, but I've found minimizing Photoshop 7 crashes ObjectDock, while minimize transitions with Window Fx don't work on large and maximized windows.
Also, any chance of smooth anti-aliased label fonts?

i've noticed that no matter what i do i can not, for the life of me, get the label for mirc to change to anything other than mirc.exe. if i change it while the dock is running then the label changes but if i close the dock and restart it then the label is back to mirc.exe. weird.

I am experiencing the same thing. For instance, I have added "Component Manager" to the dock. Initially it is set as "cm", but I change it to read "Component Manager". Then, if I shut down the dock and restart it, the label has reverted back to "CM'.

On another note, does any one know how to optimize the icons so that they are not so blurry?

Wow, what a cool program. I really hope it stays freeware, good advertising for Stardock

I have found that when Object Dock crashes, it crashes hard, bringing down explorer with it (winxp home, PIV) requiring a cold reboot. Also, I have found that the screen saver icon in the task list stays around when the screen saver ends.

Otherwise, I commend you on the quality of the app, very nice work.

Very Cool! I agree with most of the other opinions. It seems to work with no problems. Love to see more icons and I agree with Jafo, need to put the transparent option in

Just one little thing that would be nice: being able to browse directories for icons, instead of scanning every subdirectory each time you want to change an icon.

The icons window is quite a pain now that I have lots of icons, and it became completely unusable (and occasionally crashed) when I put png's in there.

Yes, Garoo, I completely agree.

This little beauty is an example ofwhy I am happy to be a paying ODN user: very useful apps that are also lovely eyecandy! My OSX-look system is finally complete!

As far as my needs go, all I need is the option to auto-hide the dock, or at least make "always on top" an option.

Excellent! I can whip up an ObjectBar that give me a start button and a systray, but the only thing I miss is being able to right-click on individual items to close/maximize/minimize them.

same here dyoda. i need a systray and start button.. oh an being able to save themes function would be nice instead of crashing and have to recustomizing it *hoping that for the next update *

i notice that the feature that "Allow windows to take screenshot " feature causes some programs to crash, winamp3 is one of them. When that is unchecked however, things run pretty smoothly
