Windows 7 Launch Day!

Windows 7 Launch Day!

Today is the big day!  Around the world people are either going to pickup, or waiting for the delivery person to bring theirs to the door.  I have talked to many people this morning, and a bunch have received their packages early.

Apparently, there are some big lines in London this morning.

If you are on Twitter, you can follow many of the events today as well at http://twitter.com/mswindows

If you got your Windows 7 box today, post a quick pic and let us know!

I preordered mine and got it on Friday. Installation took 5 1/2 hours. Maybe I have too many customization and other related programs? LOL Almost 1.1 Million files. Everything works fine. Just trying to figure the relation betwebb the built in themes and Stardock. I feel like a kid with a new toy. YAY :)

Some of my buddies went to a Microsoft Conference here in Toronto. Steve Ballmer was there and they were passing out free Windows 7 Ultimate. I bought the Home Premium on release day and was pleased to find a 3 licence upgrade called "Family Pack " for an extra $85 bucks...

Woot...

K, I am jealous!!! Well, at least until I get a laptop, which won't be for a few more months yet. Though I love XP...7 looks to be taking its place from what I have seen and heard. Congrats to those of you who have 7, and patience to thouse waiting. :D:D:D

What pisses me off is that I wanted to go the 'Family Pack' route to install on 3 PC's, but MS decided in its "let's get Win 7 on as many PC's worldwide as possible" wisdom not to make it available here in Oz.  Hmmm, that makes "let's get it on as many PC's as possible" sense. :S

Oh well, I ended up getting 2 copies of Home Premium (one for me, one for the missus) @ AUD$129 each... less 5% discount for cash, but Win 7 will not be going on the 3rd PC now, not in the absence of an Oz 'Family Pack'.  Vista UltimateSP2 x64, which has been running great on a lesser rig, will go on there instead.
