2 computers 1 router, Online. Help pls

Hi all.

Have read alot of the forums going round with port forwarding etc.

I have been able to play a few games online. My house mate decided to buy it so we can play online.

I had Ports forwarded 6100-6200 to my Ip.

and 6073 to my IP. I was able to play with and without DMZing my IP

What I did try was using impulseractore.exe.

To have my ip with 6112-6140 for example.

and his IP  to have the ports 6150-6180 sent there

But this would not work. We can connect to each other fine. But no one can connect to us.

Router Setup.

D-Link DI-634M Aus version 1.3 (latest update).

ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DI-634M/REV_A/Manuals//v1.00a/DI-634M_Manual_v1.0a.pdf

There is no specific Port Fowarding.

However there is Firewall filter.

Was wanting help.

Thanks heaps in advance.

xclaim, if i was you i would refer back to the second post, since it was working after that configuration, if it still doesnt work it would be save to assume that its the latest patch that is causing the problems.

Hi Xclaim,

I've looked to you're screenshots and I only see the firewall rules. Those needs to be open but have nothing to do with portforwarding.

Firewall is just a blocker for ports to protect you from attacks

Can you post screenshots of the Virtual Server and DMZ pages of you're router?

Sucks. If I were you, I'd simply buy a new router. Preferably one where you can put DD-WRT or Tomato on ;). However, I don't believe you are only able to set 5 virtual servers only..?

Well, that solution only relies on port triggering. In theory, this would only work in some cases, since the port is only open to him, when I makes a connection on that port to someone else.

with the virtual server in the private and public port entries can u specify a range of ports ( in the format 6112-6xxx)?

@Xclaim: which Firmware version do you use for the Router? I found some other manuals from the D-Link site for the DI-634M where the Interface looks completely different and where it is also possible to define port ranges for port forwarding.

Its an Aus version of DI-634..

So it wont load the US version of it :(

and yes i know the ones u have been looking at.

I have version 1.3

In Aus tech support, says go to virtual server.

Step 4. Click the Enable box.
- Name: Enter a name for this entry (e.g. Game)
- Private IP: Enter the IP address of the computer/device you are opening ports for(the IP address you set in Step 1).
- Private Port: Enter the port or ports you want to open.
- Public Port: Enter the port or ports you want to open (same as above).
- Next to schedule, click Always or set a schedule.

But i cannot do more than one port :(

@spooky sorry.

would be nice if we could get someone from stardock in here to help.

@Xclaim: try typing in 6112,6113,6114,etc. (all the ports, separated by a coma)

already tried. allows 5 of any characters only.

Thanks so much for your help I will troubleshoot more another time.

No problem. But I'd just get it over with and buy another router :). They aren't really expensive anyway.

@Xclaim

I think you should use the Applications page.

Add a rule:

Enabled
Name: Demigod Computer1
Triggerport: <the port used for the lobby>-<the port used for the lobby>
TriggerType: Both
Public port: <first of ports range for computer 1>-<last of ports range for computer 1>-
Protocoltype: UDP

The 2nd computer should use a different triggerport and portrange

Make sure the firewall is not blocking the 'lobby' ports and port ranges.

You can uze DMZ if you want to connect with 1 computer only

Hope this helps

UPDATE:

Since this new patch, i can now not connect. Sometimes the 'waiting for connection information' just sits there doing nothing, others are having this problem too.
