2 computers 1 router, Online. Help pls

Hi all.

Have read alot of the forums going round with port forwarding etc.

I have been able to play a few games online. My house mate decided to buy it so we can play online.

I had Ports forwarded 6100-6200 to my Ip.

and 6073 to my IP. I was able to play with and without DMZing my IP

What I did try was using impulseractore.exe.

To have my ip with 6112-6140 for example.

and his IP  to have the ports 6150-6180 sent there

But this would not work. We can connect to each other fine. But no one can connect to us.

Router Setup.

D-Link DI-634M Aus version 1.3 (latest update).

ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DI-634M/REV_A/Manuals//v1.00a/DI-634M_Manual_v1.0a.pdf

There is no specific Port Fowarding.

However there is Firewall filter.

Was wanting help.

Thanks heaps in advance.

this is how you should set it up, or what i have done for only 1 computer (i have a similar router dlink DI-524)

In your FIREWALL tab use this configuration(it basically lets everything from the outside through ports 6000-6200)

source: WAN

IP range start: *

IP range end: *

destination: LAN

IP range start: 192.168.0.1

IP range end: 192.168.0.255

Protocol: UDP

port range: 6000-6200 <-- 6000 is a NAT facilitator port, you may need to open it so it can connect better

remember this is the firewall of the router, it is not allowing applications through(or so i think). u should then go into the APPLICATIONS TAB and do this configuration:

Name: whatevayawannacallit(demigod)

trigger port: 6112-6180

Trigger type: BOTH

public ports: 6112-6180 <-- type that exactly

public type: BOTH

then apply changes and reset router, and go to impulsereactor.exe and specify the ports you want to use for each computer

hopefully this helps.

I have 2 pc's and a DIR-655 router, I've had a ton of trouble trying to connect to others for 3v3 or more, but the beta patch has helped somewhat.  Before the beta patch playing 3v3 with these 2 computers was next to impossible.  2v2 was not easy but it was doable.

Did you use ImpulseReactorOptions.exe on the 2 systems to ensure the ranges on them?

Thanks heaps stacked.

Have set it up.

going to try now.

nice :D so you both played in the same game?

Panetheon works after ages and normally 2v2.

So I am thinking we have our connection ok, its just others that dont have it setup in custom games.

Hi guys.

I cant play again..

Ive checked the portchecker from portforward.com and my ports arent open!

YET if you look at my screen shot

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/640/70511166.jpg

Its clearly open!

the portchecker application didnt work for me either, there was another website that was posted on a forum(cant remember what it was) which showed my ports being in "stealthed" mode which im quite certain means that others cannot find out if your ports are open or not

yeha man.

well wen i launch demigod... well atm im searching for games no luck.

But portforward checker says i have all open?.,.. argh lol

Xclaim, that's the wrong section of your Router. Port Forwarding is configured under "Virtual Server".

ah.. well!!!

Portforward checker said its fine.

I have DMZed my IP and still no dice..

I will try.

but under Virtual server it has

and then Private port XXXX

Public port XXXX

it DOESNT have Ports XXXX-XXXX

wtf do i put for prive and public? consider i have 2 comps wanting to play online

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/7484/test01mot.jpg

is what it looks like.

u cant put port 6112-6180 for example into public or prive port

and i have static IP for portforwarding

Try 6112:6180 instead. You put the same values in private and public.

If you are unable to define a port range at all, then you simply have to forward each port individually.

you need to do this(or so i think):

put in your computers IP address.

protocol type: UDP

private port: 6112-6140 (or ports you want to assign to it, make sure its the same as the impulsereactor.exe file)

public port: 6112-6140 (or ports you want to assign to it, make sure its the same as the impulsereactor.exe file)

then:

make a new virtual server

put in the OTHER computers IP address

protocol type: UDP

private port: 6150-6180 (or ports you want to assign to it, make sure its the same as the impulsereactor.exe file)

public port: 6150-6180 (or ports you want to assign to it, make sure its the same as the impulsereactor.exe file)

hopefully that works for u :P

but then again, i havent needed to do this, i just opened the ports through the APPLICATIONS tab!

thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated.  doing 6112:6180 doesnt work. so i have to do 40 ports for my computer as i have been using impulsreactoroptions to do 6112-6140..

You only need to define 20 ports with ImpulseReactorOptions.exe. So do that and spare yourself some ports to put in ;).

Also reset the Firewall rules to default. You shouldn't mess around there, unless you know what you are doing.
