This week, we poetic souls are going to pillage songs we love to express ourselves. (Yes. Very sneaky of us).

That was the first song that I heard from that album and I have never managed to get over it.

But then the whole album is amazing! I've seen Cake tongiht and I am now torn as to what to listen to.

So drunk however, so who knows?

BTW I only realised how young you were recently. You are so amazing for your age. How old are your boys?

Cake? I'm jealous! I used to love music so much, but a lot of the stuff that comes out now is not all that interesting to me. Maybe it's just 'cause I'm a mom.

Thanks for the compliment -- that means a lot to me. I started young with my kids -- had my oldest when I was 18. They are 7 and 4 and full of mischief! You and I are close to the same age, aren't we? I'm 25 (closing in on 26) and if I remember, you just turned 24?

Yeah - exactly. I can't imagine having any kids at my age let alone two! The responsibility would be enormous and I seem to have enough trouble looking after myself! Good on you, you're very brave.

You're such a sweetie, suz. I don't know if brave is the word for it (ridiculous, maybe?), but I do really enjoy them. I feel like this is what I'm supposed to be doing with my life -- raising my precious boys. I love being married and having kids. It did make college very difficult, but I made it through, and I don't know that I would do anything any different since I can't imagine my life without my family. I think what you have is beautiful, too though -- you are very much a free spirit and are able to travel and play and enjoy being unattached.

This is definitely one of my fave friday fives as well. I love, love, love lyrics - I have books full of them with lots of art work and ticket stubs and reminders of when the songs were most poignant. I suppose it's my kind of poetry. I don't think I could live without music.

I was incredibly drunk when I did this, am I'm glad as I didn't overthink it. Although I probably would rethink the first one...

I'm sure some other people will come across this soon enough!

hear, hear !. suz. NIN is my official 'bonk music' (especially 'closer' but 'hurt' has the most amazing effect on me also. johnny cash did a cover of it that knocks my socks off)

sabrina, i've worked out what it is i love about you so much (amongst other things). you are timeless. you can relate to anybody of any age with such amazing empathy. (i'm ranting, hehe). i related to every word of your answer, and i applaud your bravery. it makes me want to do my own answer again, if you know what i mean ?

BTW -- on the above sentence, you have the last quotation mark inside the period. I have been confused about quotation marks a bit, and I'd love to see a blog about 'em. I think I've been doing it mostly right, but partly wrong. Of course, I could look it up, but then I'd miss your witty teaching style! I am putting in a request for a quotation mark blog.

Well, I'll sum it up here quickly:

In standard English usage, punctuation marks always go inside the quotation marks. (Of course there are some exceptions, as with anything else in English, but this is the rule to follow.)
In Computer Science usage, punctuation marks that are not part of what you actually need to quote go outside the quote marks.
It's the difference between:
Type "Hello." (standard English, but ambiguous--do I type that period, or is it just there because it's the end of the sentence?)
and
Type "Hello". (exactly correct instructions, but not standard English)

Being the computer geek that I am, I tend to go with the CS usage over the standard English usage because of its lack of ambiguity. But since I do it both ways at different times (depending mostly on my fingers), it's safe to infer that this is not one of those things that bothers me.
