So, I installed Sins last night and set myself up and tried to get the patches. Whee, now you have to get patches through Impulse, so I have to install another piece of 'we own your life if you want to play our games'-ware on my system.
Fine. Whatever. I'll just uninstall it once I have the patch. Or so I think. So I retrieve my account info, sign in, download Impulse, set it up, start it, authenticate, and go to the 'Updates' tab, where it says there is an update for Sins. And I tell it to update.
It takes five minutes to 'prepare download'. It then started to download, and then stuck at 2.1% downloaded. I left it for eight hours. When I got back it said 'invalid token'.
I restarted everything, changed a few network settings, and tried again. It has now been going for about 60 minutes, and has downloaded a total of 14.9 megabytes. It says it is downloading at 250 KB/s, which would imply that it should be done in around negative 45 minutes. I'm honestly not sure if the thing actually managed to fully download last night or if it just hung somewhere and timed out. In any case, we'll see if this one finishes too. Or maybe I won't live that long.
This reminds me why I never, ever, ever buy computer games from dev houses larger than two or three people. I want to buy your game, and you assholes think you own my computer, and then your product never actually works well anyway and I never get any kind of satisfaction.
Edit: Oh, and 'gee, do you want support because our product isn't, y'know, working? Well, ask your fellow players if they've figured out anything because we can't be bothered to have a support team to answer email or anything fancy like that.'
