Welcome to the beta of Wincustomize 2K5

Welcome to the new WinCustomize website!

Please take a look around and lets us know what you think of some of the new design and layout. But also keep in mind that we are in an early beta of the site. Many areas are still unfinished and have a few quirks about them. But feel free to post any problems you see just in case it's something that we have not seen yet.

Enjoy!!

Viewing thorough Firefox the site looks great, however the stuff in this box still seem not to work IE the bold, Italics, underline etc.....

(:(

However the smilies seem to work just fine? ;p

The font for the drop-down boxes on this comment page needs to be forced to black (eg the Face, Size, Color boxes), and the Submit box should probably *not* have it forced (it's black on dark green here).

The bottom border beneath the "Add Reply" button that is in the topmost rounded box in this page (all along the bottom of there) is not showing up in the latest Firefox. It's also just "all messed up" on the right side of there, which would seem to be a related issue - the bottom image is there.

It would be nice if the tabs at the top of the screen worked for the full area of the tab, not just the text - I clicked on it and it appeared not to work because I clicked on an empty spot.

For wincustomize I really like the Idea of using Joeuser forums, However will there be a check box in the submission of a new article to keep if from showing up on wincustomize or xptheme? I really like the idea of my blog being neutral between all the skinnning sites...... ;p

Is there plans to move/merge the forums from the old site?

Also is it just me or does it seem that things don't update quickly....the pages load fast enough....but stuff like the little new message/new comment icon not changing after you view them...just one example, it's just little things like that

Using Firefox here... The site looks nice, but seems to load slow. I notice a lot of action before the page finally switched.
Also for some reason I have to scroll left and right on this page especially, even slightly on the first page. So it isn't formatting to the size of the window.
Perhaps more comments once I view more of the new site.

Sorry to all Firefox and Opera users.  We know that there are many things that do not view properly under non IE browsers. We will fix them. And feel free to fire off an email to George at [email protected] and let him know of any browser issues you have.  He's the goto guy for that stuff! :SURPRISED:

Also is it just me or does it seem that things don't update quickly....

Many items of the site are either cached or set to update when a job runs.  Most jobs run within a minute of when they are called and most cached items last up to 3 minutes.  We are caching areas of the site to improve performance.  Right now we are guessing at how long it should take before an item should expire.  As we see fit we will adjust cache times.

Is there plans to move/merge the forums from the old site?

Yes I hope to migrate the old WC Forums to the new site but not until the old site is complete replaced with the new code.

For wincustomize I really like the Idea of using Joeuser forums, However will there be a check box in the submission of a new article to keep if from showing up on wincustomize or xptheme?

When posting you will have the choice of making your post (article) available as either an Article or Forum Post or Both. If you allow your article to be seen on the Forums it will be seen on any of our sites that supports that particular channel.  So if you posted to OS Customization then your article would show up on Joeuser and XPThemes in the OS Customization Forums.

However, if you chose to have it as an article only, it will show up on the JoeUser Blog Channels and your WinCustomize Personal Page.

Hey TasT, I've updated the Bold, Italics, and Underline for FireFox/Mozilla users and you should be okay now. :) Still working on a solution for Opera users, but a fix I'm certain is on the way.

One more thing I noticed.

On the Forum Tab, when you on the thread listings page the content fits the browser windows without scrolling left and right to read...but, when you click to read a tread the content is cutoff on the right, and you have to scroll to read the sentenences.

Note: I'm running at 1024x768.

Wicked.

Looks like its the same on the Articles comments.

Thanks Wicked! We've noticed that ourselves. We'll be updating the site with this and many other fixes sometime today, I would imagine. Keep up the commenting! We do appreciate it. ;)

Using Firefox 9.3, all looks good and loads fast. Well done!

I really like they layout. I have only one suggestion. Either make the colors darker or give us options to change the skin of the site to a darker color.

All this lightness and brightness is tough on the eyes!!

Functionality is great!! :) :HOT:

Looks great, I like the lighter feel. Seems to load quicker, too. IE 6 latest updates/XP pro SP2

It does load quicker...its caching images now, so its using the same files from page to page for the graphics. :)
