Whilst I tend to agree with the majority of what you have said Jafo, it has been my experience over the years that organization has never been their forte at DA. They have always had a constantly shifting clique and they tend to do as they please. RealitySquared has always cried too busy when confronted on matters or generally pays lip service. When the forums got out of hand there they did nothing for months. Then appointed members of the more recent DA wannabe's who then began banning based on personality clashes and not principle. This would not be the first time major skinners have been ripped there and they have taken their time. Jemaho had his work ripped, Kol had his work ripped and young Leo over there had his work ripped and they more or less ignored the fact or made excuses.Given the time the site has been in existence the communication amongst its members and outside should be of a good quality by now. As usual though they probably are more concerned loading their servers up with new little toys to pull the punters in than refining the processes needed to function at a basic quality service standard. Given the manner they treated Scott Jarkoff they certainly do nothing to command respect. Given the run around it took to protect members image rights, during which time Angelo was making money on mobile phone images that no-one knew about for some time, they do not command respect. I have never had a problem with you and have always found you to be helpful and courteous as is Fuzzy....it does not take a lot to be civil. If anything DA Staff could learn from you guys....they certainly seem to need someone holding their perfect little handies. They are forever up to their necks in it, with only the depth varying on a daily basis. Copyright issues can always be taken to your local copyright office and a private action taken against the offender. In New Zealand we have an association of Artists that have come together to combat copyright fraud. Weta and Sony are members and the association prosecutes on behalf of members with the funds coming by way of donations to fund any lawsuit undertaken....several people have already been done here. An image can cost the offender up to ten thousand dollars in fines.  ....thank you for going into bat Jafo!  

This guy should have been banned, and not just having his stolen work removed.

He was already reported in June/July and had to take down ripped work.
He just had to remove his complete gallery because none of it was his own work!
He also kept hiding the comments (and not all were spam and not all were derogative) and purposefully uploaded more ripped work after he was called out on ripping.

...yet DA only had him remove the gallery!!!!

He knew what he was doing and he keeps on doing it.

I agree that the spamming didn't help with the DA-crowd, but DA itself leaves an extremely weak impression here. They obviously need to fix their moderator priorities.

Here on WC this guy would have gotten a warning back in June and he would have been banned sometimes mid last week after the first rip-report and no mobbing would have happened.

Yes, on reflection, I guess 'the pack' approach did us no good in terms of reputation and standing and I tried to be polite but assertive in our cause with my threads on their forum but on relection it would have been better to have left it to someone with expertise, experience and contacts, like Jafo.

I know its 'water under the bridge' now but one thing I would like to clarify is a comment made by Zoomba......."WinCustomize has a bad rep in the skinning world, and it's something we've been doing well to clean up, but it's cases like this that wipe out a lot of that effort".........Bad reputation with who, Zoomba?   

....and to rub our noses in it even more. Thing is, he now knows that he can get away with it for extended periods of time, (DA has sent him the all the wrong messages) and he therefore will continue to rip others works unless banned completely.

The longer this debacle is allowed to continue, the more I am inclined to agree with our friend, MountainHawk, the DA mods/staff are a very 'clicky' bunch and couldn't organise a grog-up in a brewery.

How difficult would it be for the objectdesktop software or it's individual components to have the ability to put the creators name across the middle of any skin be it wb or widget etc,(example: webshots software puts "WEBSHOTS" in bottom right corner of all wallpapers & it's sorta transparent but can be plainly seen), if you purchase the objectdesktop etc software then the makers name can be removed etc ok so it really will only be useful for cracked software i spose

It's probably not hard at all if that's what they wanted to do. However, any skin artist knows how to put a watermark symbol or text across their screenshots, it's just that they do not want to have to, and we shouldn't be forced to have to.
In addition, i know a bunch of "consumers" who do not want blatant watermarks or copyright notices on wallpapers or skins. I, personally can see the sense in this and as such try to make any copyright symbol blend into the theme, yet still make it recognizable enough to know it's mine, so anyone who knows my mark will know it as such.

Watermarks aren't necessary. Public humiliation and stonings should be brought up to the times though.

It's not that much of a battle, if at all...I've been running Vista Ultimate since late January and couldn't be happier with its performance & stability. Hopefully your experience is as trouble free and as pleasant as mine.
